Finally lowering bottled water prices

This is very good news. It brings the 1 liter price closer to the "regular list price" in our local supermarkets (we don't pay it, because even $1.99 a liter is too much for our blood). Many of the hotels we stay at have a liter or 1 1/2 liter bottle for $7 to $12 in the room. Kind of like buying shots from the mini bar I guess.

But we'll pay $15 for the convenience of having the bottled water. The rest of you are welcome, because like the drinkers and the gamblers, our $15 is subsidizing your cruise!

Aquafina isn't our favorite water, but at least it's not Dasani. We're actually fine with any filtered water that doesn't have any chlorine taste (or harmful byproducts of sanitation which I doubt the ship will have anyway), but of all the bottled waters Dasani is our least favorite. I suspect the Carnival brand water is on a par taste-wise with our usual water from Costco, which is sanitized with ozone instead of chlorine. So I can see how C cruisers are happy with the price at just double what they could get comparable water for on shore.

Is That What Commander Cody was singing about when he was lost in the ozone again?

Bingo on #2.

As most know, I order a dozen water bottles of Aqua Pena from the restaurants.

I hate Aquafina.

I was pleasantly surprised last month on the Epic. I had pre-ordered 12 bottles of Aquafina, but when I went to my cabin, I saw that they were delivering Acqua Panna instead. (Yes, yes, it's bottled water and I would have drank the Aquafina, but I just don't love the taste.) The Acqua Panna was so much better! Happy to see NCL is lowering the cost instead of raising it.

Money talks folks. If nobody is buying the water at ridiculously inflated prices, then the prices will be changed until people start buying it.

There is a customer service side to this as well. Handling complaining customers that feel gouged has an impact. This is my first cruise with NCL coming up. And as a new customer I felt the water prices were outrageous once I saw them. This new pricing is still high. But at least it brings the pricing in line with some of the other companies. I wont be drinking a whole lot of water anyways with the "free" UBP :). But I was going to get 3 brita water bottles to take on board for us. Now I will just order a 12 pack of one liter bottles because it is cheaper. They can also be refilled once empty from the buffet.

Is there something wrong with the "tap" water that makes people buy the bottled water? I always take an insulated water bottle and refill 5x/day. I would drink a 6pk of bottles (20oz) per day. Am I missing something?
No, there is nothing wrong with the water IMHO. I bring a refillable bottle and fill it at the buffet all the time and have never had an issue with taste, swollen feet/legs, etc.

LOL I wonder what the next complaint of the week will be.

1) The price drop was not enough

- OR -

2) They do not carry the brand of bottled water I prefer

I'll put my money on item two! :D

For me it's the size of the bottle. Who carries around a 1 liter? :)

Glad to see that NCL lowered the price of water for those that want it.

The price is also lowered for those that don't want it. Now I'm not saving as much money as before when I bought no water. My cruise just became less valuable.:D

Do they sell smaller bottles (16.9 oz) on the ship for excursions? I don't want to carry a larger bottle. Many cruise lines have them for sell as you leave the ship. Does NCL?

I was told you could purchase smaller bottles at bars, spa, arcade for about 2.50.

All newer ships (probably those built in the last 10 to 12 years at least) use a reverse osmosis on-board system that removes salt from sea water and therefore the water coming out of the tap is roughly the same as most bottled water today. I know this does not normally add some of the minerals that add taste but strictly on a purity basis.

If we have any true water specialist out there please chime in if you agree/disagree but not just opinions of "armchair quarterbacks" that have no technical background please.

I am kind of waiting for the price of the $5 casino chips to come down to about $2.75 which is a lot more reasonable! I mean if they REALLY want to sell and quit being greedy, ya know what I'm saying? :D

Best laugh I've had reading these posts. [emoji106]
