tincan floater Posted February 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Has anyone ever made a money transfer to Club 21 casino, I'm planning on a long cruise and don't want to carry a large amount of cash.
cabinluvn Posted February 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2017 You shouldn't have to do that...it will be charged to your room and you pay it at the end of your cruise Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
IllinoisGirl1978 Posted February 15, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2017 It's a cash advance, you pay a fee with your debit card. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
tincan floater Posted February 15, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted February 15, 2017 NO , It's a money transferred to an account in the casino Monies you get on your card have a 3% charge. I know you can do the transfer , because I have talked with the casino people, I was just wondering if anyone else ahs done this. I do not wish to pay 3.oo per 100 on the cash advance your talking about.
jtl513 Posted February 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2017 If the charges go against your on-board account, would buying yourself OBC work for you?
Rare POA1 Posted February 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Purchase casino chips online from HAL before you leave home. There's no service charge. You'll get a letter/card in your cabin confirming the purchase. Take the card + ID to the casino cage and they'll give you cash or chips.
LordSpain Posted February 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2017 About a month before your cruise go to www.oceanplayersclub.com . Click on VIP Services, then Apply for Casino Credit. Fill out the online form and they will notify you about a week ahead of time of your approval. They will notify the ship and after you embark fill out a quick form at the casino cage. You can get markers at the table games up to the amount of your credit approval. At the end of the cruise you can just write them a check for the markers you took. I believe the limit is $100,000.00. Rare kazu Posted February 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Wow! I had no idea of all these arrangements for the casino. I just take a bit of cash and charge the rest to my on board account. (I like to have limit ;) ). very informative.
tincan floater Posted February 15, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted February 15, 2017 LordSpain; Do you know the interest rate on the line of credit. I'm trying to avoid the credit charges. By doing the money transfer. But thanks for the info, I was aware of this option, but did't check the interest rate. LordSpain Posted February 17, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 17, 2017 They charge no interest. Bruce
igraf Posted February 17, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 17, 2017 I wouldn't worry about the interest rate as you are likely to lose a lot more than 3%. I really do understand the entertainment value of losing money at a game mathematically stacked to favor the house. igraf LordSpain; Do you know the interest rate on the line of credit. igraf Posted February 18, 2017 #14 Share Posted February 18, 2017 I agree that it is your money to enjoy. It is just so easily apparent that the casino games are rigged to favor the house and ship casinos are among the worst. Why not invest in something that you can actually win? We don't get free drinks with our investments, but we do win "jackpots" all the time! igraf No need for you to understand , We all have our own ways to enjoy things Sent from my iPad using Forums

I have a new attitude on the casino and do look upon it as a bit of an investment. My discounts on the upcoming cruises from using the casino are far more than what I spend there.. ;) DH won't object to me playing again. I look on it as a bit of entertainment and if I reap more discounts, even better. ;)
kollegekreed Posted February 20, 2017 #16 Share Posted February 20, 2017 For tables, bring cash. There is a 3% cash advance fee for that. For slots and video poker, it couldn't be easier (in fact, looking at my room bill, TOO EASY) to bill to your cabin with no fee.
Nic6318 Posted February 20, 2017 #17 Share Posted February 20, 2017 Hi there The ships will still accept travelers cheques. If you are able to purchase them without a fee, they are convenient and safe. hope this helps

We don't get free drinks with our investments, but we do win "jackpots" all the time! igraf Why not do both? I don't understand folks paying $500 a ticket to see "Hamilton" or $1,000 to see the Super Bowl but different strokes for different folks. Getting back to the subject, I have been able to convince the casino manager on some cruises to drop the 3% vig but I agree the marker is the way to go. Its essentially an interest-free loan and you have the option of redeeming the markers on board if you come out ahead. I believe they require a minimum $2,500 or $5,000 line of credit - I forget which as it differs among the cruise lines.
