Having trouble filing the ship?

Hi All - We just booked the Carnival Sensation for May 8 (yay!) We were able to register for FTTF and reserve a spot at the Chef's Table with no problem even though it's less than 80 days out. I'd read that those two things usually sell out pretty quickly. Could this mean that it's not selling well? For inside and outside cabins, there seems to be plenty of capacity (no red "X Cabins Left" notes for any floor when we were picking our cabin.)

 

FYI, we don't mind a less full ship. I was more (a) curious and (b) wondering if it could mean there would be possible upgrade offers or price drops as the date gets closer. This is our first time on Carnival, so still learning the ins and outs!

If it is not selling well, they will lower the pricing on the cruise so that it does fill up by the time the cruise departs. Also, people tend to book shorter / extended weekend cruises much closer to the actual sail date than those booking longer cruises.

FTTF and Chefs Table don't sell as well for shorter cruises and their availability shouldn't be indicative of how well the cruise itself is selling.

 

The seeming availability of cabins 80 days out also isn't necessarily indicative of future upgrades and price drops. Many people choose to hop on a short cruise "last minute" and pricing algorithms predict this for already lower basic fares. I wouldn't expect discounted upgrades or price drops but is remotely possible to find them.

Add to that , short cruises that repeat twice a week , don't attract advance bookings.

These ships will fill up by locals when the price is right .

Hopefully you booked Early Saver so you can take advantage of the price drops if you don't get an upgrade offer

...The above posters are correct. The shorter, weekend cruises are booked last minute by locals. The ship will certainly be full by the time she pulls away from the dock.

Ships are always filled to capacity or at least that's what we've been told!
