BRScity Posted February 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2017 We are interested in a Northern Europe cruise with Princess for 2018 and had made the usual searches on the web to discover prices for our favoured cabin. However, we decided to visit the London Cruise Show this weekend, having been before it was possible there may be some deals to be had. On arrival at the show, we went to the Princess display and discussed our requirements. Sadly despite the fact that we had already in hand a low deposit future cruise deposit, despite being gold members and Captains Circle members, there was not only no deals at all, but found that over the last 48 hours, Princess had increased its prices in sterling by 10%. Princess offered anyone at the show low deposit and ship board credit, exactly what we were given for putting our deposit down on our last cruise in 2016. Our cabin had increased by over £200 each. Its possible these increases could be associated in the lower value of Sterling or the usual increases in cabin prices. Some of the other cruise companies did have deals, such as discounts, drink packages or parking. Harsh lesson, will book as soon as possible in future. capriccio Posted February 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2017 You still have a long time before the cruise, why not wait for a while watching for a good sale?

Rob Hi Rob: Welcome to the post "Brexit" value of the pound. As Cdn, we have found cruise prices have increased as well due to the value of our dollar falling against the USD. I can't see the pound appreciating in value in the future, so book when you feel comfortable. Happy Cruising

Im glad we got free tickets as it was a bit of a waste time! We went with some friends who are looking to book and they got some ideas with was good for them. We already have 2 cruises booked so we were looking for a bit extra from the show other than the opportunity just to book a trip. I overheard a Princess cruise rep say that their cruises are flying off the shelf at the moment so they dont see any need to do any discounts. Apparently the only thing they are struggling to sell are the Med cruises. They also dont have their late 2018 brochure out until March - i thought a preview would have been available as there was a captive audience there. I think its a shame that P&O werent there and that they do a different show. We wont be rushing back to next years show! Katie

Happy Cruising Thanks for your comments....we have booked, the cruise is one of only two available in 2018, so it was important to book our cabin. Katie Thanks for your comments yes, P & O were probably the most significant company missing along with Cunard. We won't be going to the next show either, although we did enjoy the smaller companies doing exclusive cruises around the Scottish Islands. Unless you had checked the pricing before the show for the other cruise companies, how do you know that what they offered at the show was any better than what they offered before the show?
