Rare pinotlover Posted June 1, 2017 #26 Share Posted June 1, 2017 Will BE tickets be the only option on those flights/routes? I fly both airlines regularly, but have no intention to ever purchase this Class of ticket

bUU Posted June 1, 2017 #28 Share Posted June 1, 2017 Maybe the yields from people like me as so low that they just don't really care. Or this won't give the other airlines the opening you suggest it might. This message may have been entered using voice recognition. Please excuse any typos. SelectSys Posted June 1, 2017 #29 Share Posted June 1, 2017 Or this won't give the other airlines the opening you suggest it might. . Maybe yes, maybe no - It really depends on the business model and how the airlines are structured. The cost structures of airlines are different based on what they offer and how they do it. Look at this data that MIT compiles and you'll see the differences (most recent data is 2015): http://web.mit.edu/airlinedata/www/2015%2012%20Month%20Documents/Expense%20Related/Total/System%20Total%20Expense%20per%20Available%20Seat%20Mile%20(CASM%20ex%20fuel%20and%20Transport%20Related).htm
iancal Posted June 14, 2017 #30 Share Posted June 14, 2017 There is an exception to every rule. We seldom book in advance. Booked standard economy open jaw on United. Canada-Singapore in Jan, return from Manila in March. $530USD (700CAD). Price to too good to pass. We were able to select our seats on United flights, aisle and window, and will call ANA for their seats as we have done in the past. No additional charges. Hope we may pick up a last minute cruise in our travels.

iancal Posted June 26, 2017 #32 Share Posted June 26, 2017 Not certain what is going on but in Canada, overseas air seems to be selling at blow out prices. We keep seeing extremely low prices on flights to Europe-$600-$700 CAD to various European cities. Almost a cheap as some domestic flights for. Flights to Australia with LA stopover $995 CAD on Qantas.
