Remember unlike other cruise lines if you Book a P&O Excursion and then wish to cancel they will charge you 10% no excuses will be accepted.

What do you mean? I've cancelled an excursion and got a full refund

This is not true, in our experience.

On Arcadia two years ago we cancelled a trip we had booked on the Cruise Personaliser, on the morning of the excursion, because one of us was not well.

We were not charged 10%, but received the full refund - I have the emails to prove it.

Not correct. You can cancel and get a full refund right up until the cruise. I have done it. There is something like a 3 day limit, but it's made very clear when you book. Remember that if you book in advance, any loyalty discount will be applied. If you book on the ship, they deduct the full price from any on board credit, with no allowance made for loyalty discount.

Hi we have our first cruise booked for 30th July to Norwegien Fjords.

Anyone know how soon are the booking excursions become available through p o?

Thanks

We are going on a cruise one week before you and our excursions are available, yet we have received no email notification. If you visit your cruise personaliser, I suspect that they are on there. If you are going on Britannia and they are not listed, it may well be that your itinerary has changed, as it did with us. P&O advertise Flaam and Olden on Britannia cruises and then cancel the port calls and replace with less scenic / minor Fjords. They did this 6 times last year alone.

The 10% charge applies if you cancel while ON BOARD ( but still around 48 hours before the excision sets off). Otherwise you get a full refund.

This is not the case. Cancellation is allowed up to 48 hours before the excursion, even if you are on board.

From P&O FAQ

Should you wish to cancel a shore excursion you can do so via Cruise Personaliser. Cancellations can be made via the Cruise Personaliser no later than 3 days to departure. A full refund will be applied to the credit/debit card used to make the original payment. There may, however, be shore excursions that are non-refundable or incur a cancellation penalty or have an earlier cancellation deadline; details of this will be contained in the tour description.

If you wish to cancel within 3 days of departure please speak to your on board Shore Excursion Representative who will be able to assist. Cancellations cannot be made via the Cruise Personaliser within this time period.

Once on board, if you wish to cancel your shore excursions before the cancellation deadline (generally 48 hours prior to the arrival in port) a 10% cancellation fee will be applied to your on board account and the full amount paid will be refunded to your original credit/debit card.

We regret that we are unable to refund the cost of excursions that are cancelled by guests after the cancellation deadline. If you do wish to cancel your shore excursion after the cancellation deadline we will credit the original credit/debit card with the full amount paid however, a 100% cancellation fee will be posted to your on board account. In order to process any cancellations tickets must be returned to the on board Shore Excursions Office.

If the shore excursion that you wish to cancel was booked on board, a credit will be applied to your on board account, minus any cancellation penalty. In most cases, the 'Essential Information' section of the shore excursion description will indicate where a shore excursion is not eligible for a refund.

Before booking a P&O excursion check out a site like Viator which can be a lot cheaper than P&O and we have found them very reliable.

We got a three hour tour of Barbados and two hours on the beach for ?28.50, the P&O price was ?47.00.

If booking with P&O then book early as some tours sell out but if your tour is 'Waiting List' only go to the Excursion desk as soon as you get on board as they keep a few spaces to sell on board.

Just to be difficult (:D) I have to disagree with this, only on the basis of my statement from my trip two years ago.

Having checked it thoroughly we definitely weren't charged the 10% stated, even though we cancelled our excursion on the morning it was supposed to go, and also after having received a full refund on our credit card. Maybe it was because one of us was sick?

Thanks this being our first cruise I think we will book a couple when they come up, then maybe look at other sites, I know PO are expensive, but will look at cheaper options like viator.
