Mtngirl2 Posted March 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2017 I will be eligible for the HAL Mariner Embarkation lunch on my next cruise. For those of you who gave taken advantage of this lunch, what time is it usually? I will have a HAL transfer from the hotel to the cruise ship (don't know the time), and it would be lovely to check in and then head to this lunch! Any advice or suggestions? I will be on the Panama Canal cruise on HAL on March 22. Thanks and I'm so excited about the upcoming cruise!
CruiserBruce Posted March 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2017 If it occurs, 12-1:30. Discussed frequently.
Rare POA1 Posted March 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 11, 2017 Like Bruce said, seating usually noon until 1:30 pm. However, it's now open to everyone. It might not be listed in the daily program, so just pop by the MDR. They seem to use the lower level most often.
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 11, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2017 HAL changed the rules some months ago. The embarkation lunch in the dining room is now open for ALL passengers from Noon until 1:30 PM. We have been on ships when it closed around 1 PM. Don't forget to try the Panama Buns on the day you do the Panama Canal. That is the only day they will be available.

Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted March 11, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 11, 2017 Just back from Zuiderdam. On Embarkation day, they let priority boarding passengers board even though the cabins weren't ready. As in the old days, they herded everyone to the Lido. It was around 11:45, so we avoided that and found a place to sit and wait until we could go into the MDR at noon. There were very few people there, the smallest turnout I've ever seen for this lunch. At some point, (around 12:30) the CD announced that cabins were ready and reminded people that the Lido was open for lunch. No mention of the MDR. It's like this lunch is a state secret! WoodtreeYJ Posted March 12, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 12, 2017 In case the OP was also wondering, the actual HAL Mariner Society Lunch is now held on one of the subsequent days, and the invitation letter should be sent your room.
gigianne Posted March 12, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 12, 2017 When we boarded the Koningsdam in December ship's personnel were directing us to the Lido - but, those in the know head towards the MDR - less people, you are served and the menu is quite good too!
