Monte Carlo during Grand Prix

We will be arriving in Monte Carlo on the Oceania Riviera during the Grand Prix. We understand it is almost impossible to get around Monte Carlo during this time. We have also heard that many of the cruise ships will go to a different port during this time. We have not heard anything from Oceania regarding a change in port. We have also heard that some of the cruise lines will do something special on the ship during the Grand Prix. Has anyone heard if Oceania does anything special?

If Oceania have said that the ship will be in Monte Carlo during the GP then it would be unlikely to change the port now, as people will want to go the the GP and have booked the cruise to see it.

We were on HAL in Monte Carlo during the 2015 Monaco GP and we went to the qualifying sessions. Brilliant - highlight of the cruise to me.

Traffic on the Thursday will be moderately affected but on Saturday and Sunday the traffic will be standstill because of the roads closed and the fans trying to get in. Howwever the Principality does continue to function, albeit with a little difficulty.

We were there for the Grand Prix in 2015.

Lots of ships will be there and most will anchor off the port so you will tender back and forth.

It will be crowded a couple of days prior to the actual race and the day after and even more crowded that day. But with that said we had no problem getting around by foot during those days. We did attend the race too. There is a lot of excitement and I have to say everything was very organized.

Should you wish to go to other nearby areas for excursions you can but it will take a lot longer by motor vehicle. Of course the train is a good option.

I would not hesitate to go.

You will see extra signage.

There will be people who will direct you around and help with traffic congestion.

There will be displays.

Some people will view the race from various yachts.
