Opinions to decide on drink package please

Recommended Posts

So I am cruising 7 nights on anthem and the full drink package is $48 a night plus service charge. I have read many threads and articles about these but am still trying to decide what to do. I will give some information about me and hopefully someone can give me some advice.

I wouldn't consider myself a big time drinker but being vacation I'm not sure if it will entice me to consume more alcohol. Anyway alcohol aside my beverage of choice is going to be between milk and water.

So considering the time frame of a week I'm wondering if it is worth my while to buy the drink package just to have everything paid for.

I could easily go through a half gallon to gallon of milk a day. How much does milk cost alone? I also have $150 onboard spending.

Is there any place that offers protein drinks and if so what's the cost, does a drink package cover it?

Anyway do you think it is worth it?

For me at that price it is a no brainer it equates to 4 frozen drinks a day @ $12 + tax each never mind if you have any fresh fruit juice or coffee's. Can't help on the protein drinks as I don't recall seeing them but to be honest I wasn't looking for them.

Milk is included, and available at any eating venue. You can bring a few cartons to your cabin from the buffet, if you want. Ice water is available EVERYWHERE...bars, eating venues and your cabin...just tell your attendant that you will need ice twice daily, as the water never "runs cold".

Whether the drink package is worth it...just depends how many alcoholic drinks you will consume daily. Drinks are pricey, so if you were to drink 6 $8.00 drinks a day, you will "break even".

Funny, humans are the only animals who refused to wean themselves. They've decided that when mom is finished the cow should take over. ;)

Lol atanac, see even from these replies it's kind of a toss up considering the water and milk would be free anyway. I see what your saying on the 4 $12 drinks a day. But I'm also thinking about the three port days. All that time during the day where the money is secondary to the cruise regardless.

Anyway it's tempting, I may do it just to enjoy myself without thinking of the price every time I get a drink.

One more question, Can someone clarify, I think I read somewhere that you have to sign a receipt every time you get a drink without the package yet with the package there is no signing. Is this true?

That all depends on the bartender, the bar, or the ship itself. Sometimes yes...Sometimes no.

Love to help! Bloody Mary or Caesar in the am, beer with lunch, beer or frozen drink in the afternoon, pre dinner cocktail, wine with dinner, after dinner shooter or cocktail. Add in a fancy coffee or two plus the bottled water. Drink package would be a savings.

Have fun,

Sue

We really do not drink much alcohol so we will bring two bottles of wine on board to have with dinner. Instead, we each took the refreshment pkg. when it was on sale for $18. We both enjoy freshly squeezed OJ, cappuccino with breakfast and dinner, not much soda, lots of bottled water, maybe one virgin frozen drink a day, an iced latte during the day, maybe a smoothie...........the way we figured it the convenience is worth it even if we fall a little short dollar wise.

With the deluxe pkg. I imagine it is very similar and the question is how many alcoholic beverages you might consume in a day in addition to everything else.....sitting by the pool.....before dinner.....with dinner......in the casino....at a show........only you can decide.

I appreciate the input from everyone!

This basically sealed the deal, I just completed the order for the deluxe package, so the decision has been made.

I had the package on our trip on Allure in January. I liked being able to get a bottle of water any time I wanted one. I also liked the idea of fresh squeezed OJ. I did have a drink or two during the day, wine with dinner and a couple after dinner.

I thought, for me, it was worth it and not having to think about a bill at the end was a plus too. I tried a couple of drinks I've never had before and one I enjoyed, the other never again.

I would purchase the package again especially because I don't drink the ship's water, even though it is used in my ice cubes and iced tea. The bottles of water are great for port days.

I've seen the ship also sells drink cards for 10 drinks for 80 dollars or so and it's like a punch card so you can drink as you wish but it's kind of discounted at the same time. I think this is the route I'm going with on our upcoming cruise as I don't drink much and the package would be too much

Just a note that the drink cards do not always show up, and when they do, it's usually towards the end of the cruise.
