Question about getting cash at casino

Ok, so my buddy took advantage of the gift card deals through Allstate. I was able to get him 1,000 dollars worth of gift cards for 900 bucks. He gambles and plays in the casino a LOT. (Going on a free cruise with him April 10th) I know when I would play at the slot machines, I could just charge my sail & sign, and have the monies taken from my account. My friend mainly plays blackjack. He told me they charged him a 3% fee? Would this apply to gift cards too? Couldn't he just download credits at a slot machine from his sail & sign, maybe spin a few times, and cash out without the 3% fee? I dont ever remember being charged a 3% fee in the past. A little confused, can anyone fill me in?

Yes that is the best way to get cash without a fee

If you friend has a free casino cruise, then the credit card surcharge is dropped. That's explained in the casino packet he/she will find in the cabin upon embarkation, along with the other perks, comps and gifts that come with a casino cruise booking.

That is true on a Premier Casino Cruise, but not just a casino offer or Bounce back cruise.

Best way to get around the 3% fee is to just apply the gift cards to your S&S acct at Guest Services, or better yet, at the kiosk across from GS.

Then withdrawl cash from the same kiosk like an ATM withdrawl and take cash to the casino to buy your chips.

However, do it before you have a balance on your S&S acct. It will only let you take an credit amount you have.

We gamble alot and do this often and always with gift cards.Just make sure to spin the slot once or twice or they will lock his account and he won't be able to do it again unless the casino manager unlocks it.Happened to me once

So if I booked a premier casino cruise, there is no 3% fee for cash from a credit card?

Easiest solution bring some cash. I bring about a $1000 for a week's cruise. We treat gambling like shore excusions a built in expense. If we take some money home, great

That is usually what we do as well, but if I don't have to take an extra trip to the bank, good. Also if I can get rewards on the credit card, even better.

If you are on a Premier cruise, the 3% fee is waived. That is only if you are booked as a Premier member, not if you are just a regular passenger on a Premier cruise. I barely bring $20 in singles on a Premier cruise. I buy enough chips at the table to play and cash out what I need. Free 3% rewards, no need to carry hundreds (or more) of dollars, and I pay off the card when I get home.
