Help for Seattle

We are flying in early for our cruise and are torn between where to stay. First choice is near Space Needle and spend time sightseeing, second would be to stay near SeaTac and take train into city daily. Trying to get transfers to hotel near Space Needle is expensive (looking at Shuttle Express). Please anyone from the area what should we do? TIA

There are a lot of threads about this, so I would advise reading a few of those. Either way, you are going to have to pay for a transfer to get to the port, unless you were planning on taking your luggage on the light rail if you stayed by the airport. The hotels at SeaTac will be cheaper than Seattle Center, but you will also be spending a lot of time going back and forth. It really depends what you are comfortable with.

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt which is a great location and has a wonderful Club Floor.

We stayed here as well, and loved the club floor and the location of the property. In fact, we took Light Rail from a Sea Tac to the light rail station a couple blocks away from the Hyatt. So convenient

Also, we've stayed at the Hampton Inn which is very nice, too. Kind of near the space needle. We took a private car service to the hotel through Seattle Express ($74 plus gratuity) and it was so convenient. We were an,e to walk to Space Needle and catch the monorail to the end, and from there we walked to PIke's Market.

It's a bit of a walk, but not if you're in pretty good to moderate shape.

If your staying more than one night I would definitely opt to get a hotel downtown or near the Seattle Center. You are going to waste a lot of time going back and forth on the light rail to the airport each day. Uber black should run you about $50 from SEA to a downtown hotel. UberX would save you some money, but a little less convenient as you have to head over to the parking garage for pickup.

What month are you cruising? Are you sailing out of Pier 66 or Terminal 91? Some of the downtown hotels are walking distance from Pier 66. Terminal 91 not so much, at least not with luggage.

Check out Priceline for hotels too. I kept watching the "Downtown-Seattle Center" neighborhood & was able to snag a 3.5* Express Deal hotel for $111+ taxes, which came up $135.80. We ended up with the Marqueen Hotel, which, for the one night, seems to be a pretty good deal & will meet our needs. We'll Uber or Lyft from the airport to the hotel, then walk or use the monorail from Seattle Center to Downtown to explore the day before the cruise, then also use Uber or Lyft to the pier the next morning.
