Tax Free Spree

Recommended Posts

I looked at it for my October solo cruise. Saves me about $19 since the base rate is like $150 more now then when I initially booked. I do get a kick out of repackaged promotions. Not much benefit for me but maybe more for someone else.

i normally just delete mails from my PCC but glad i saw this one. of course no bermuda itineraries. sigh. i gotta admit i would change my plans this year if bermuda was included

that being said. oct/nov BA to bahamas is pretty darn cheap. did a 2 and 4 person balcony mock booking and they were just a few dollars apart at aroudn 1800. thats a steal !

Like most sales...it's not really a sale. My Jan 18 Epic cruise went up in price over $200 since last week, which is more than the cost of the taxes.

I was just getting ready to say the same thing. We are on the same cruise. The price on the 13th since we booked several months ago is $180pp more...the taxes are only $265 but if I wanted the "free" taxes and port fees I would be paying $360 more.

Our Jan. 20th Epic cruise the taxes and port fees are $309 but the price of the cruise went up $500, so I would be out another $191 for this offer. Yeah right, like I am jumping on that bargain!(n)

I had a suspicion something was going on when I seen how high the cruises were 2 days ago.

Not universally the case. The cruise fare for our fall Bahamas cruise on Breakaway went down several hundred dollars for Haven, and almost 100. pp for balcony. I was comped by CAS, but other family members paid full freight. But they booked with free gratuities, and the old SDP, and 300 OBC, and they would lose all that to take this promotion as it would be a re-book, so not worth it..... But the point I was trying to make was that on our cruise, the prices went down.

Yes the price went down but so did the offerings you were receiving. I think the point would be if you were to rebook at this rate to get this special you would lose a lot, and NCL knows that. It is for new bookings, someone that has not been paying attention.

Do you think I can use the tax free spree offer with my Harrahs "free" cruise certificates where I'm supposed to only pay tax & port fees as a CAS guest?? This would be awesome!!!

Yes you can! We just booked this through CAS. However you will still owe the Admin fee of $20 per day per person. ($140 each on a 7 day cruise.)

Sand and Seas....thank you, I only have one issue...I am scheduled to pick up my certificates on April 30 and the tax free spree seems to end in a couple of days. Do you also think I can book my cruise tomorrow w/o certificate, then apply my certificates in May? I think I'll lose the promo since NCL may consider it a new booking one I change over.

That is a problem.

Have you cruised on NCL in the last year or two? You could try calling CAS now to see if they can directly comp you a cruise based on past play onboard. Also I did have one person tell me that their casino had already sent their name to CAS prior to them picking it up in person. He had called CAS and they said he had several expired cruises on their list. He had never gone to the casino to pick them up but CAS had the authorizations there.

It never hurts to call and ask them if you are eligible for a cruise with them. The agents at CAS are usually very friendly and don't mind answering questions.

Oh wow. Yes, I cruised last year May on Breakaway to Bermuda, I'm booked to cruise in 35 days (May 21) back to Bermuda on Breakaway. I'll call them now. Thanks!

I would suggest you contact the main office CAS agents. They usually work Monday to Friday 9-5 Eastern. Call them at 1.877.752.9625. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks you! I put it on my calendar to call them as soon as I get to work in the morning. I'll keep you posted!

I won a cruise through the NCL Casino at Sea, and this promotion turned out awesome. The normal cost of a "free" cruise includes a $20/per person/per day administrative fee, taxes and port fees. I was able to "upgrade" to a studio since I cruise normal, which gave me the benefits of this and the drink package, dropping the price of the cruise to 240 for 7 days. Granted I noticed that the price of the rooms had gone up around when this sale started, so I agree that it's probably a "fake" sale in that sense, but it works out great if you were just on the hook for those taxes.

Sand & Seas, I did it!!! OMG!! I called CAS and they had my certificate information on file, which she forwarded to me. I was able to book my cruise on the Breakaway for $280 for two of us. It's an inside room...Do you think I need to do an upgrade before the tax free spree promo is over?? She quoted me $350 pp to upgrade to a balcony... I'm hoping to wait till prices drop to upgrade. Your thoughts?

Now I don't have to take a trip out to Atlantic City to pick up my certificate! Thank you so much for your help!!
