Jamericannn Posted May 12, 2017 Author #151 Share Posted May 12, 2017 When we got back on the ship we went straight to Lido to eat then lounge around a little. Later in the evening we went to dinner then I brought my daughter to Camp Carnival so that I could go to the shows and comedy club. She quickly ran in and got in the groove of things. Here she is on the far right. As usual the show was spectacular; at least the presentation was. We then went to the after party in the lobby and then to see the new comedian. About 9:50 I took the elevator up to get my daughter to bring her to the room so she could go to sleep with her big sis so the adults can go party. :). *we had a phone so the older daughter could call if she need us*. Came back to the room to yet another roommate Shortly after leaving the room the older daughter called the phone because the baby did not want to sleep and was crying. I went to try and put her to bed and allowed DW and others to enjoy themselves. I fell asleep and there ends my day. Jamericannn Posted May 14, 2017 Author #157 Share Posted May 14, 2017 Day 6 - Cozumel We did not have anything planned for Cozumel except shopping so we did not see the need to rush off the ship. We got up about 8am which was really late for me because I am usually up by 5:30 whether I am cruising or I am home. The Lido deck was packed; not with people but by these guys below There were too RC ships in port with us, including Harmony of the Seas, and shortly after that Carnival Freedom pulls in. Harmony of the Seas I believe it was Serenade of the Seas docked beside it but it was so small compared to Harmony it can't be seen. Jamericannn Posted May 14, 2017 Author #158 Share Posted May 14, 2017 Getting off the ship was very fast because most people had gotten off by then. We stopped and took a few pics before grabbing some afternoon drinks at Three Amigos Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Jamericannn Posted May 20, 2017 Author #159 Share Posted May 20, 2017 After walking around for a while we were approached by some locals who wanted to sell us tickets to an information center. We got persuaded and eventually purchased some tickets for $20 per person. It was just a 5 minutes drive. The place was awesome with some amazing architectural work. The major issue was that our tour guide had a very very strong accent and it was hard to make out a sentence. What made it was was that he speak very fast. You could see on everyone's face that they were disappointed. Some of the people from another group we were with were telling us how annoyed they were but no one said anything to the guide. I guess no one wanted to hurt his feelings. As I said before, the architectural work were very well done. We walked through a park where they have small replicas of historic and famous buildings around Mexico. Here are a couple of them This one was taken from an angle which makes it look like I was at the actual building. This is just a tiny replica They also had a performance at the end where there guys climbed a long pole, tied ropes to their feet and rotated around and around while slowly getting lower and lower. One stood at the top blowing a whistle/flute. There is a lot of history behind the performance but because it was hard to understand what the guide was saying, no one really knew the significance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Jamericannn Posted May 20, 2017 Author #160 Share Posted May 20, 2017 We are some food after the performance and then head back to the port so the ladies could get their shopping in. I stood around watching some guys playing music and dancing while I waited. I walked to the bridge in the small park and of course I saw another two iguanas. The trip wouldn't have been complete if I didn't see any because I've seen at least one at all the previous three islands. Jamericannn Posted May 20, 2017 Author #161 Share Posted May 20, 2017 Getting back on the ship was fast and easy. By the time we got on it was time to get ready for dinner. The ladies went to their cabins to get ready while I brought my daughter to camp. Strangely that night she started crying as if she didn't want to go. It actually started the night before when I went to pick her up and she ran to me crying as soon as she saw me. I though she was just tired of camp and maybe missed daddy a little. Anyways, one of the worker gave her a doll to kind of distract her and brought her to play with the other kids. I then went to my cabin, got ready and went to dinner. This was the second formal night and the waiters danced to Gangnam style. After dinner we went and saw the rock show which was the best show of the entire cruise. It was just spectacular and the production was really good. The show lasted for about 45 minutes then it continued out to the lobby. Jamericannn Posted May 20, 2017 Author #162 Share Posted May 20, 2017 Then suddenly, the power went out 😨😮😱😱😱😨😨😵😯😳😳
Jamericannn Posted May 20, 2017 Author #163 Share Posted May 20, 2017 Yes you read correctly, the power went out. There was an initial scream but everyone was calm in spite of the circumstances. It suddenly came to me that I need to go get my daughter who was at camp. I checked the phone and noticed I had some missed calls. Camp Carnival had been trying to call me for a while but I guess the music was so loud I did not hear it. That was before the power went out. The elevators were down and I was on the third floor. I had to climb the stairs all the way to the 12th floor. I could smell some smoke but could not see where it was coming from. The lights on the stairs did not go out, or maybe they weren't lights, just something that reflects so I was able to walk up the stairs without issue. By the time I reached the 12th floor I was out of breath. For the second night in a row my daughter ran to me crying as if she could not wait to get out of there. I apologize to the workers for not hearing and answering the phone. They inform me that she has been crying for a while after I left her. They said nothing happened to her but she was just crying. This was a little surprising because I know she loves to play with other kids and there were toys around and other activities that she would normally fight to get away from me to enjoy. I brought her back down to the room which was in total darkness. I got a little light once I opened the curtain. The teenage daughter was supposed to be in the room but I did not see her. I went to her grandma's room and she was there. She got scared when the power went out and ran to grandma's cabin. The CD made constant announcement (as usual) as to the progress of the power. The lights came on in some parts but the elevators were still not working. I am not sure if anyone was stuck in them but I assume there were. The CD tried to keep everyone calm and was even joking about it by saying "we sailed too far so the card that plugged into the socket in Miami got pulled out." Jamericannn Posted May 20, 2017 Author #164 Share Posted May 20, 2017 The CD may have crossed the line a little but when he joked about Titanic but then said ships are made better now so those kind of tragedies will not happened again. I dont know how long it took for the power to be fully restored but it doesn't seem like a long time even though I did so much during that time. The crowd on this cruise was well-behaved and they really seemed very calm; at least the ones I encountered. Jamericannn Posted May 20, 2017 Author #165 Share Posted May 20, 2017 When the kids went to sleep we went to a deck party which was really good. The party continued at the serenity bar where everyone let loose with their dancing skills. I was a spectator. :). Party went on for a while and when it was over I went to rest my head. Goodnight. Jamericannn Posted May 20, 2017 Author #166 Share Posted May 20, 2017 Day 7 - Sea Day Not much to report for the sea day because we all decided to just hang out by the pool area for the most part. We also did some laundry and went to the places on the ship that we did not get a chance to go as yet. This includes the sports deck and the gym. The sports deck was really windy and empty so I took some pic up their and got down. I peeked in the gym but did not actually go in and workout. Who wants to do anything involving work on a cruise? Then again, I guess doing the laundry was work right? We could not get our daughter to go to Camp Carnival. As soon as we got off the elevator on the 12th floor she started crying. See post #134 for more details. We are dinner at the MDR and a fan of dessert but I tried the carrot cake and I would definitely recommend it. It is as good as it looks We got up and danced while the waiters were dancing and everyone really had a great time. Our waiters have been so great to us so we all had something for each of them (3). Nelo, the head waiter was awesome and Emilio and Dani was just as awesome. They appreciated the tips we gave them and even on the last night they were just as welcoming as the first night. This is the best crew of waiters I have ever had. They were very personable. After dinner we went back to finish packing so we could put out our suitcases to be picked up. Later on in the night we went to the casino to gamble the budgeted money we still had. :). We did win one of the $100 stack from the money machine We stayed in the casino until it was time to close. I am glad we did not have so much fun there the previous nights or we would have been broke coming back home the way we were going. Jamericannn Posted May 20, 2017 Author #167 Share Posted May 20, 2017 Day 8 - Getting off the ship We didn't bring out our luggage so it took us a while to get off the ship. There were a number of people with priority debarkation so we we had to wait in the Golden Restaurant until they had us lined up and out lines merged with the other passengers in the lobby. Overall it wasn't bad at all. We didn't have an early flight so we were not worried. Our suitcases were off the carousel and waiting for us by the time we got off. Jamericannn Posted May 20, 2017 Author #168 Share Posted May 20, 2017 My thoughts on the ship and cruise itself I went on this cruise with an open mind because of the mixed reviews. I was excited because it came out of drydock just a month prior the cruise. The ship is in good condition. Yes, there are some minor things that could be changed/repair/paint but there is nothing that stands out that is in bad condition. I am not a smoker so I do not like the scent of cigarettes. There was no issue with cigarette smoking in the casino. I have read where people say that was an issue. It is either those people have super sharp smell, or they just want to find something to complain about, or the ventilation was fixed during dry dock. The only place There was a slight smell of sewage was in the hallway on deck 4 walking from the picture displays to the elevators. That odor was there for the most part whenever I passed that area. It still wasn't a strong odor but it's there. The crew was always friendly and personable when you talk to them. Not everyone say hi when you passed them in the hallway. However, no one was rude. Carole is a great room steward and she seemed to always be working. Anything we needed she provided. The room 2277 was spacious and well-kept. Entertainment was too-notch. The production was really good. Yes, it's similar shows I have seen before but the singers are some of the best cruise singers I've seen. We always go to the second show and they were very energetic even on the final nights. If you read the summary of the ship on CC you will see that they mentioned constant announcement as one of the negative on this ship. It's not a ship issue. It is the CD's (Eric Brouman). He repeats the same thing too often. He is good at what he does. I think he is a great CD. He just makes too many announcements. The food is awesome in the MDR. I've never gotten a meal that was too cold (unlike what a lot of people say). The soup especially seemed like it was just poured out of a boiling pot. The Glory is a beautiful ship. I would definitely go on it again if the ports and price is right. If you are thinking of booking it.... Go Ahead! There is plenty to do. pe4all Posted May 21, 2017 #172 Share Posted May 21, 2017 Thank you so much for taking the time to do such an extensive review. I kept going back and forth between the Glory, Splendor and Conquest for our January cruise and picked Glory because of the new waterworks addition. Plus we were able to snag one of the L-shaped balcony cabins! Sorry to hear your dd had some problems with camp towards the end of the cruise. You never know what will set little ones off. Glad to see the power outage didn't phase you too much.
