the_dylaness Posted April 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2017 We arrive to LAX at 840 but cannot board our cruise until 12. I know it will take some time to travel but is there anything to do at the actual pier once we arrive until we can board? Thanks!

SadieN Posted April 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2017 You don't have as much time as you think. If you have luggage, the earliest you'd be at port is 10am. Porters will already be waiting for your luggage and the check in process should have begun. sailingmickey has some excellent ideas (the Iowa is docked next to and shares the parking lot with the cruise ships.) but where would you store your carryons? vampiress Posted April 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2017 agree with others, you won't have as long as you think, but after you drop off your luggage, maybe walk or take an uber over to down town san pedro, it is a very cute little town with some really good restaurants. i quite enjoyed the happy diner. the pumpkin pancakes were amazing http://www.happydinersp.com/?p=menu
Baseball fan Posted June 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 28, 2017 Renting a car? You could drive thru the beach cities for a much better view than the freeway. That will pretty much take up your time. Sent from my iPad using Forums
KeepCalmBearOn Posted June 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 28, 2017 By the time you get your luggage and get to San Pedro you should be able to drop the luggage and go on the USS Iowa. I would rather do that than visit Ports 'o Call Village or San Pedro proper.
Rare Keith1010 Posted July 14, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 14, 2017 I am not big on flying the day of your cruise but that is a different story. I would just go to the port. Let's say you arrive on time. You won't have your luggage until around 9:20 AM. Allow one hour to get there and that places you at 10:20 AM. I can't think of any place worth going. Why not check in and you could take a tour of the USS Iowa. Keith
jakey2004 Posted July 29, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 29, 2017 Keep in mind...LAX is under construction. We flew in in April and again the beginning of the month...both flights we spent taxiing for well over a half hour waiting on a gate. Both flight on different airlines. So, I would head to the port and consider visiting the USS Iowa.
wheezedr Posted July 29, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 29, 2017 As others have posted you will have less time than you think. We have cruised many times from LA. Sometimes we drive to the port and can easily time our arrival, if we fly in day of embarkation we often time it a little early as a safety valve. If we get ther quickly we can drop off our luggage and then head off to San Pedro usually to pick up some wines. It's a short jaunt to town.
