WonderMan3 Posted May 5, 2017 Author #78 Share Posted May 5, 2017 After returning from our Etna excursion we wanted to head out to the Solarium to soak in the pool. We got out there to find that it and the hot tubs had been emptied. Calling guest services they advised they would be shut down for two days for repair. We never use the pools and of course the one day we want to it's closed, lol. So we relaxed in our cabin until dinner time. We dined at Ocean Liners through a complimentary meal from Blue Chip Club. Food was just like Murano. We had the Lobster Bisque, Goat Cheese Soufflé and Chateaubriand which were all tasty. After dinner we spent the rest of the evening at the casino. tweetylori Posted May 6, 2017 #82 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Your review and pics are FANTASTIC, thank you! Am enjoying every moment of your shared journey. We also had felt like RomeInLimo was well worth the money when we used them on a port stop last November on a TA. Just curious what restaurant disappointed you in Testaccio? We had lots of great food in that neighborhood on the walking food tour we did. Hope you guys continue to have a fabulous adventure. Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us! Please keep the pics coming, especially the food porn. :D

WonderMan3 Posted May 6, 2017 Author #85 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Yesterday we were in Valletta, Malta. After having breakfast at Oceanview (plenty of tables available) we left the ship to meet our private guide at 9am near the terminal. We used a guide named Amy Pace who came highly recommended on Trip Advisor. She was fantastic. A native Maltan, she was an expert in everything Malta from history to culture to architecture and archaeology. We hopped into our private car and first part of the tour was visiting Valletta itself including going inside the spectacular St. John's cathedral. It was one of the most ornate cathedrals I have ever seen with its gold-plated walls and frescoed ceilings. WonderMan3 Posted May 6, 2017 Author #88 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Our next stop on our Malta tour was visiting the Tarxien Temples, ruins dating back to around 3500 BC. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
WonderMan3 Posted May 6, 2017 Author #89 Share Posted May 6, 2017 On our Malta tour we next visited Vittoriosa, a quaint area near Valletta with picturesque narrow streets running through it. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
WonderMan3 Posted May 6, 2017 Author #90 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Continuing with our day in Malta we next visited the seaside town of Marsaxlokk with its colorful fishing boats bobbing in the harbor. We enjoyed lunch here at a waterfront cafe that Amy recommended. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

WonderMan3 Posted May 6, 2017 Author #92 Share Posted May 6, 2017 We next drove to the southern coast of Malta to view some spectacular rock formations along the sea coast. The large arched formation is Malta's Blue Grotto. We wanted to take a boat ride into the grotto but it was too windy so the boats weren't running. The views from above were still spectacular. AC Stew Posted May 6, 2017 #93 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Adam, Thank-you ... your Malta photos are incredible! Seriously, I'm salivating. We'll be there on a Constellation overnight this October. I have a question for you: Are you perhaps familiar with any of your fellow cruisers who did a private Malta tour with Joan Sheridan? She was also also very highly rated on Trip Advisor; I hired her for a small group tour. It would be great to hear some recent comments. I'll be looking forward to following your sailing! Cheers, Shawn
delondin Posted May 6, 2017 #94 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Have been following this. Your photos are amazing. We are on the Constellation in June and originally had the accessible s2 on deck 9, allocated as guarantee booking. We switched to a non accessible on deck 6 as soon as one came up (4 months later) partly because we had read about noise from ping pong above. Did you have any issues? WonderMan3 Posted May 6, 2017 Author #95 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Finishing off from our tour of Malta. Our final stop was possibly my favorite, Mdina, known as "The Silent City". It's one of those ancient cities with small walkways winding by stone buildings and a photo opportunity around every corner. This is a must visit if you come to Malta. We only had one hour there and I definitely would've liked more time. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

WonderMan3 Posted May 6, 2017 Author #98 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Have been following this. Your photos are amazing. We switched to a non accessible on deck 6 as soon as one came up (4 months later) partly because we had read about noise from ping pong above. Did you have any issues? I have only noticed some occasional banging when we are sitting out on the balcony. I actually didn't know what was causing it but now that makes sense about the ping pong table as it has been actively used. It's not a bother for the cabin. The size of the cabin and balcony compared to other S2s makes up for it. It's also super convenient to have the stairs and elevators right around the corner. The shower is extremely annoying for my husband though. I'm not sure what he does in there but he completely soaks the bathroom after using it. When I do the floor immediately surrounding the shower does get wet but I just lay a towel down before I get in. WonderMan3 Posted May 6, 2017 Author #99 Share Posted May 6, 2017 After returning from our wonderful day in Malta we popped into a glass shop at the port and purchased a piece we liked. Then it was back onboard to enjoy sailaway. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
WonderMan3 Posted May 6, 2017 Author #100 Share Posted May 6, 2017 We were back at Luminae again last night for dinner. Forgot to snap a photo of the menus but we had Burrata and Short Rib for appetizers and Roast Chicken for entree. Mike had a chocolate tart for dessert. I had my dessert at the casino later that evening when I hit my second jackpot of the cruise. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
