Rare Crew News Posted May 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2017 Is Mid to End of May too early for an Alaska Cruise. Looking to do round trip out of Seattle or Vancouver? Up until this year, we have always cruised in late April or early May to Alaska. There is still a bit of a chill in the air, much less rain than other months, lots of baby wildlife experiencing Alaska, many hungry whales returning from Hawaii, snow on the peaks, and much lower cruise/airfare prices. Budget Queen Posted May 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2017 To early for what? Bear tours, salmon runs, fishing, entry into Denali Park (doesn't pertain) for Eielson and Wonder Lake- all the above is too early. But there is plenty else to see and do. Do more determining what you want out of your trip.

Rare Coral Posted May 12, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 12, 2017 May is usually a great time to cruise Alaska. There are things you miss but other things you gain.
xlxo Posted May 12, 2017 #9 Share Posted May 12, 2017 Tracy Arm is likely still choked with ice and some animals are coming out of hibernation. But the hotel and cruise costs are cheaper. Much better than going in September when the Alaskan storms are more active. Sent from my STV100-3 using Forums mobile app

Been there, done that.
Ashland Posted May 12, 2017 #11 Share Posted May 12, 2017 Three out of our 4 cruises to Alaska have been in May....we loved the timing...Our 4th cruise was in September...not a favorite although we did see the northern lights.
