Starboard or Port eastbound TA

For those who have been on Reflection eastbound TA....which side of the ship was better?

Does it make any difference?

Thanks

You need to ask/answer yourself two primary questions:

Do you want more sun or more shade?

What do you want over and under your cabin?

Then, choose accordingly.

We just got off Rhapsody Eastbound TA from Tampa to Barcelona in which the route led us thru the Canaries. We had a Port side cabin. Most of the sea days before entering the Med, the afternoon sun was mostly aft and leaning towards the Port side. On a compass if the ship heading was 0 degrees, the sun was around 190 degrees in the afternoon. We got about a foot or two of sun on the balcony.

During our Westbound TA last October our Port side stateroom had virtually 90% of sun, and it was too hot to sit out on the balcony in the afternoon.

Just did the eastbound from Fort Lauderdale to Amsterdam this April on the Silhouette. We didn't have much sun the entire trip but on the rare times it came out, starboard had more sun. But it was cool entire trip where sweat shirts were more the norm.

  • 7 months later...

So more "daylight"/sun starboard side Eastbound and the opposite westbound?

as far as comparing... which lines have the best TA? Celebrity? Princess?

Is it worth the $ for say Regent, Cunard?
