Are the casino minimum table bets the same across all S class ships, or do individual ships have the ability to adjust prices?

If anybody currently onboard can comment on the minimum bets for roulette, that would be great! (and what ship you are on).

Thank you.

Table play limits are usually $10.00. It can vary ship to ship per the Casino Managers discretion.

With the exception of Equinox in April '17, the last several cruises I've taken on S class ships had minimum bets on most table games at $10, including craps. My wife plays Roulette and she says that the minimum has been consistent at $5. Occasionally the price went done during the off peak times of the day.

On Equinox, the table games were at $5 all day, every day. And the casino seemed busier.

There is a minimum and MAXIMUM...it's clearly posted on each table game. If it's a $5 min....then the max bet is usually around $250..$500...or so...just check! If you want to bet big, they will let you!

I have honestly been puzzled by the way the managers operate ship casinos. Over the past few years the minimums have gradually increased. So, for example, where there used to be $3 or $5 Blackjack tables...now its usually $10. When we walk though the Casinos ..most of the time at least half the tables are closed, dealers are standing around (with no customers) and a few tables have decent action. If they were to lower the minimums on a few tables they might attract more gamblers. This does not increase the cost to the casino since the dealers are paid whether they deal or stand around. There are many folks on ships who would gamble with low limits...but are simply turned-off by higher minimums. It seems to be that smart management would be to lower minimums (at some tables) to attract those low dollar players.

I agree completely. If the roulette minimums are now $5 (or $10), that's extremely disappointing. I'm pretty sure there were $1 minimums for roulette in the not too distant past... I was then surprised to see the increase to $2...now $5??

Your point about the dealers being there anyways is right on the money!!

  • 2 months later...

To clarify, I found out that on Reflection earlier this month, chips were available for $1, but you would have to bet at least 5 chips (so $5) on inside numbers (or $10 if outside odds) on any given 'spin'... Seems like a very fair minimum...

I have seen $25, $10, $6 and $5 minimum bets at blackjack tables over the past year or so. It varies by ship/sailing/day and perhaps what the casino boss had for dinner the night before. Some ships try to have only minimum $25 tables the first night and then when they discover they have no players, reduce minimums. The $6 minimum tables are trying to convince you to place the (terrible for you, great for the house) "any 20" bet...if you run into that, just bet $6 as your regular bet.

Caution...Princess has changed payouts and likely Celebrity has or will do the same. They are only paying 6:5 on blackjack instead of 3:2. Watch for this...make sure your table is paying 3:2 odds. If they are only paying 6:5, play something else.
