If so, have them count the number of shooting reported in the Union Tribune today and everyday. It's more than Cabo for sure.
BruceMuzz Posted August 8, 2017 #29 Share Posted August 8, 2017 The Japanese Government has issued several warnings to Japanese citizens who might want to travel to the USA. It is just too dangerous. But no warnings for Mexico.

Ine Posted August 9, 2017 #31 Share Posted August 9, 2017 Just read this article about safety in Mexico: http://qroo.us/2017/08/08/is-it-safe-to-live-in-mexico/

Patti Do you know why he is banned from traveling to Mexico? Just curious because I worked for the Federal Government (both in uniform and out) for more than 40 years and was never once banned from visiting Mexico. Not quite sure, but I think it is the specific type of work that he does. (don't want to mention). I did look up the US Travel Advisory warning and it did mention Los Cabos area, so IDK. kiwimum Posted August 11, 2017 #38 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Will not post links to military regs but you can google for the info. As a part time resident of San Diego with several military family members stationed here I think can speak from experience. Approval must be obtained in advance of travel to Mexico. Mexico is a great country to experience, but you need to exercise caution. We still enjoy our time. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Langoustine Posted August 11, 2017 #39 Share Posted August 11, 2017 This was the situation in 2014; IDK if it's still in effect: http://www.jbsa.mil/News/News/Article/598972/mexico-travel-restrictions-in-place-for-active-duty-members/
KroozNut Posted August 11, 2017 #40 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Will not post links to military regs but you can google for the info. As a part time resident of San Diego with several military family members stationed here I think can speak from experience. As a San Diego native, a career military veteran (retired after 24 years), followed by another 15 years as a senior DoD consultant; I know I can speak from experience. Your anecdotal statements about DoD personnel being restricted from travel to Mexico are much less informative without citing appropriate sources other than Google. Approval must be obtained in advance of travel to Mexico. In all my years associated with DoD I have never had to request approval (in advance or otherwise) to visit Mexico. And I've enjoyed perhaps 30 visits there during my lifetime, with another visit scheduled for next month. Mexico is a great country to experience, but you need to exercise caution. It is prudent advice to exercise caution and hightened vigilance when visiting anywhere in the world, so Mexico is no different in this regard. KroozNut Posted August 11, 2017 #41 Share Posted August 11, 2017 This was the situation in 2014; IDK if it's still in effect: http://www.jbsa.mil/News/News/Article/598972/mexico-travel-restrictions-in-place-for-active-duty-members/ A good example of misleading information. While a lot of folks like to make broad, sweeping statements such as 'military personnel are and have been restricted from travel to Mexico for many years', your reference is very specific with regard to which locations in Mexico have restrictions. Current cruises to the Mexican Riviera do not visit any of the areas cited in your reference.

Sent from my iPad using Forums Exactly, and that was to any foreign country, not specific to Mexico. A 'security briefing' from the security folks prior to the travel was sometimes required as well depending on the country visited. These procedures have been in place for years. But an outright ban on personnel visiting any specific country (including Mexico) has not occurred as long as I have been associated with DoD.
