Balcony guaranteed. Best/worst room received?

I have just booked a balcony guaranteed for the Spirit.

I've never cruised before and would love to know what people thought of the room they recieved.

Has anyone had some crazy upgrade to a suite?

Did you get an obstructed view but still loved it?

I'm super keen to hear your experiences!

If this is your 1st cruise, you really have nothing to compare it to! You booked a "balcony GTY", so a balcony is AT LEAST what you'll get. You could get lucky and get a suite, but that is really quite rare. You'll be fine!

I'm not worried at all!

I'm well aware of the 'worst' possibility, which will be fine. We just want the fresh air as a minimum...

I just like to think of all the possibilities that could happen.

It's exciting to think it's possible to get a big upgrade, however unlikely!

I think the worst possible room is right under the pool deck. Had a relative take that room once and could hear them setting up the chairs early every morning. For me 'worst' room relates to noise. I don't care about where I am on the ship but always try to get sandwiched between two levels of cabin rooms so there's less noise.

Last year for our Breeze cruise we booked the gaurantee balcony. We ended up with the balcony, LITERALLY, directly above the BBQ. We looked down at the blue awning. Now, others had complained about the location being above the BBQ, others bitched about balconies on 6th floor on general. I had a great time with it..... had great conversations with people in BBQ line a few times. Looking back now, our spa balcony on 11 was much better but balcony above BBQ will always have a special place in my heart.

The take-away here is, any balcony is better than no balcony.... noises, slightly obstructed view or whatever.
