Shadowmeboy's Escape to the Western Caribbean!

We collected our bags, and caught the hotel shuttle to our car. After loading everything up, we started North.

Driving I-5 North in Southwest Washington, you can sometimes see Mt. St. Helens.

 

 

 

We arrived in Woodland, WA

It was 915 pm Pacific. We were tired, being on East Coast time, but starving. Dinner on the plane was too early. So we went to a Northern Oregon/Southwest Washington Burger chain, Burgerville! They had their Strawberry shakes available, which are totally amazing.

 

 

Couple that with a Tillamook Cheese Bacon Burger. OMG, I might have died and gone to heaven!

We awoke and had breakfast at the hotel. They had this awesome Breakfast scramble. It was good!

 

 

 

 

 

 

We started north on I-5 along the Columbia.

Part of why we went up I-5 instead of going back through the Columbia River Gorge was my wife wanted to visit her parents grave. She lost her Mother 10 years ago, right before we got married. Her dad passed in late 2013.

 

 

 

 

We then headed to her hometown of Winlock, WA. Home of the world's largest egg.

Susan walked around downtown, seeing what had changed. I stayed by the railroad tracks hoping to catch a train!

 

 

 

I was not disappointed. A Northbound Amtrak Cascades train came rolling through.

Susan returned and was telling my what had changed when the Southbound Amtrak Cascades train came through.

After the trains passed, we made our way to US-12 and the journey over White Pass to Yakima.

As we dropped into the Eastern part of the state, the climate and scenery changes.

 

 

We followed the Tieton River

We stopped for Lunch at the Loredo Drivein in Natchez, WA. My burger was the size of a small tire, and it took two hands eat.So no picture, sorry.

 

 

 

Susan enjoyed hers as well!

 

 

We stopped by a local fruit stand and got fresh picked Cherries.

Heading North on I-82 (Technically West as its a East - West Interstate)

 

 

 

 

dropping down into Ellensburg, WA

We headed over Blewitt Pass on US 97.

 

 

Arriving into Wenatchee, WA. Look its the Columbia again!

 

 

After a quick stop, we headed North on US 97 towards home.

Your pictures of WA are beautiful. I've only had the pleasure of seeing WA once and loved it, esp Mt Ranier.
