1st time sailing the Divina, have a few questions

Hey guys! I'm reading up on the MSC Divina as much as I can so thanks so much to everyone here for the reviews.

My questions are:

Does the Divina play any modern American music? I'd even settle for the 80's and 90's if they don't have anything more recent.

Do they ever have karaoke? 😳

This is only my 2nd cruise and the first one was on the smallest, ugliest, least entertaining boat I could imagine BUT we were friendly so we made the most of it and still had a great time.

I have no problem with a mix of people, in fact I look forward to it because it will make it more obvious that I'm not at home and I might even learn a few things.

In your experience were the people friendly enough that I shouldn't be afraid to mingle?

I'm already booked and paid so no matter what you say I'm stuck lol but it will ease my nerves a bit to know more.

There was a very eclectic mix of music on the ship. I want to say the lounges were mostly classic rock or classical music (Beethoven to Beatles). I never made it to the disco but assuming that was modern dance/club. On deck during the day was a mix from classic rock to top 40 to hip-hop.

There was karaoke a couple of nights.

For the most part people were very friendly and social.

Sounds like the Divina will be the perfect ship for you! :) Plenty of music, international mix of people (mostly friendly) and karaoke. Don't forget to pack something for the Flower Power theme night which is dedicated to the '70's. This might help too: https://www.msccruisesusa.com/en-us/Discover-MSC/On-Board/Entertainment-Leisure/Night-Time-Activities.aspx

Hey guys! I'm reading up on the MSC Divina as much as I can so thanks so much to everyone here for the reviews.

Good morning, I sailed on the Divina on the June 10th sailing., so I can help you out.

Does the Divina play any modern American music? I'd even settle for the 80's and 90's if they don't have anything more recent.

Yes, they do play modern American music, all over the ship. We experienced multiple venues where music was played. In the atrium they alternated between a pianist and a violinist. Both played popular tunes and both were great! The other venues with live music and djs included current and classic American music.

Do they ever have karaoke? 😳

They did have karaoke available and it was all in English.

This is only my 2nd cruise and the first one was on the smallest, ugliest, least entertaining boat I could imagine BUT we were friendly so we made the most of it and still had a great time.

My Divina sailing was my 30th cruise. There were a couple of things that I did not like, however, I loved the ship and am going back again next week. The ship is clean and beautiful and most of the staff were pleasant.

I have no problem with a mix of people, in fact I look forward to it because it will make it more obvious that I'm not at home and I might even learn a few things.

There was definitely a good mix of people from all over. I was with a large group so I didn't have much opportunity to mingle. I never received my notice of the Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle which was disappointing. However, the people that I did encounter were polite and friendly. The great thing about the Divina is that there are a lot of public venues for you to enjoy and meet people.

I'm already booked and paid so no matter what you say I'm stuck lol but it will ease my nerves a bit to know more.

I was apprehensive at first about cruising with MSC, it was my first time and some reviews were not positive. I loved the Divina! I realize that reviews are subjective, however, I did not experience anything that negatively impacted my cruise. Like I mentioned earlier, I am going back on the Divina next week. I booked it a few days ago. I am also booked on the Seaside and am looking forward to that sailing.

I hope this helped!

Thank you all so much for the information!

I have read some negative reviews about the Divina but this reading this forum (even the ones dedicated to other cruise lines) helped me make my decision.

I'm going with my sister and this trip has 2 ports that we've never been to so I'm pretty much going to drive myself crazy thinking of what we should do lol. My cruise isn't until August.

So your first cruise was on Carnival? (Sorry - couldn't resist.)

curious as to the things the person did not like on Divina--just booked the yacht club.. first time on MSC but 30th overall

I'm not seeing much not to like. We'll be in YC on Divina in 6 weeks so I can tell you more after that.

Once you stay in YC, it's hard to go back to balcony cabins. They pamper you in the YC. The YC lounge is fantastic; nice and quiet, comfortable and they serve you drinks and offer appetizers and treats while you relax. There's also a small, cold buffet in the lounge. You eat your meals in LeMuse, the YC private restaurant; outstanding service and great food. Your private butler will provide whatever you need, including a tour of the ship to acclimate you to what is available. The YC service desk will take care of reservations for shows, excursions, etc. When in Port, your butler will escort you off ship without having to wait in lines. When you disembark, they will escort you to front of line. Once you stay in the YC, there is no going back to lower categories.

I'm not sure if MSC sends out invitations/announcements to the Meet & Greet. They DO post in the Daily program when and where the Cruise Critic Meet & Greet will be held so if you read them carefully you will see when it is. They serve nibbles and drinks, including alcoholic ones so don't miss it!

Meet and greets on MSC are now registered for prior to the cruise. They will run it if at least 6 people are registered. They do NOT put it in the daily anymore...You will receive an invitation to your cabin for it. Nice free drinks, apps, and a cake, and most senior officers including the captain and cruise director attend.

hi, just returned today. We did get an invitation to the meet and greet (it was held at 10:30 AM on the second sea day I believe) and attended and as other said it was a great wait to meet the captain and some staff. However we were promised a picture of the group and we did not get that delivered to the cabin so I'm hoping one of my friendly cruise mates will be able to scan and email me the photo!
