Legend of the Seas - Nightlife/Bars??

Recommended Posts

Hi, sailing on Legend of the Seas this coming March, and husband wants to know the breakdown of what type of bars/clubs are on board for adults late night.

We were spoiled recently on Navigator with sooo many options. With Legend being a lot smaller, are there a lot less bars? Is there even a disco type club on this ship?

Any recent cruisers' help would be great!!

We love rock and roll, and top 40s music mostly.

How many bars do actually need? Disco is in the Viking crown. There is a Schooner bar and casino bar, probably others. And we found that the nightlife on Vision Class ships (most cruises) extended later and they stayed open longer than they do on the Voyager class ships.

Just returned from Thanksgiving week on Legend of the Seas - our first cruise. It was wonderful, and although we are not looking for alot of nightlife, was surprised at how dead it could be on Legend. Anchors Aweigh Lounge - dead - closed some nights. Schooner Bar, a singer and comedian with only 3 to 4 tables occupied after 10:30. Viking Lounge had the most activity - a couple of nights were packed for karaoke, 70's night etc, but the other nights were very quiet, but a nice setting for drinks etc.

Ouch..really? We were so pleased with the Navigator (our first RC ship) because the nightlife was SO hopping, even til' 3AM. We dont get to do a lot of that in our "normal lives" due to work schedules, so while on cruises we really like do things like that. On Navigator, I really enjoyed the live bands that played as well as The Dungeon, which stayed open past 3am some nights.

I guess I should warn hubby that the nightlife on this ship may well resemble our Disney cruises...where everyone was basically in bed by midnight. You could hear a pin drop in the hallways LOL

Hey thanks for your info. I am really looking forward to our next cruise. I am just wishing March was already here!!! ;)

I found the Viking Crown Lounge way too crowded. We couldn't find a seat or place to set a drink.

I noticed a huge room that has ballroom dancing lessons that would be much more comfortable for the headliner bands currently performing in the Viking Crown. I noticed the same thing on other RCCL cruises. I remember attending the Captain's Reception in the same room as the ballroom dancing lessons. I couldn't understand why that room is set aside for only a handful of people (less than 10) who were interested in ballroom dancing every night while the Viking Crown Lounge is overfilled to capacity.

Hi Everyone...really surprised at the info from the return cruiser just off Legend. We sailed for 14 days to the Mediterranean in August....and had a Very Different Experience. All the bars and the ship in general... were very lively till way past midnight..more likely 1 am. The Viking lounge..even later.

We had main shows every Night..even on port nights.... in the That's Entertainment Lounge on Deck 4 Forward.... including the Drifters. They were fantastic. Commediennes..jugglers..acrobats...singers..dancers..etc.

Drinks available at the Champagene terrace outside the dining room off the centrum decks 4 and 5. with lovely window seats and beyond this the actual champagne Bar..people around here till midnight or later.

The TV bar at the Schooner...I didn't use..but always crowded. Not sure the closing time..think it's 1am.

Definitely Music and singers in the Center of the Atrium. A lovely place to sit by the marble staircases. We loved this at night with all the lights and view of the atrium galleries above and glass elevators going up and down. A trio called Soiree ..with female vocalist pianist and guitar..were my husbands favorite. They performed till 12:30am...and others were there thruout the week.. and played in the day as well.

The Anchors Away lounge Aft on Deck 5 had the twist competition and a rock and roll night as well as Bingo..Mr and Mrs. Games..talent show etc. Music and bands for dancing. It did close at around midnight. Our dinner was late seating...8:45...and we were generally a little late... so we didn't get to the anchor until 10:45 or so..and only about an hour there till it finished. We then went to The Viking lounge..they had something everynight... an 80's theme night... karaoke.. a disco.. going on till 2 am or later. We personally left there after 1am more than once.. and it was still packed and going strong.

Perhaps it is the Clientele that made up that particuliar cruise..Families with kids..who didn't like late nights? or RC has not put in as much effort..I sincerely hope it is not the latter. We had a very lively and wonderful cruise. Everyone had fun...but without any drunkedness, or bad behavior, that I noticed. As a person who always goes to bed late..I had a great time...loved every minute.. and was certainly never bored. Happy Cruising to All.....Cheers from England, Carol

Just a quick addition to the above that I have remembered. As our dining room sitting was late...the shows for us in the theatre only started at 11pm till midnight. We actually had a problem deciding whether to have the hour of music and dancing in the Anchors Away..or see the shows. With the theatre full and emptying out at midnight..the majority of the people mingled around for awhile having drinks, some then going on to the Viking crown lounge.

The only time the shows were earlier, was the nights of the 4 midnight buffets. On these nights the shows were before dinner. We had 2 chocolate buffets in the dining room and 2 ondeck late night buffets..including a roasted pig..and they started setting these up at 11:30 pm to be ready for midnight. Everyone was on deck for this...cocktails in glasses that light up were for sale... and it was especially wonderful the night we sailed from the French riviera at midnight as the party was going strong...band playing on deck. All the lights of the ship and the harbor were absolutely beautiful. A sight I'll Not forget

Whatever the situation for drinks, bars, and parties... I am sure that You all will have As Good a time on the Legend of the Seas as we Did..She is a beautiful ship! and the crew were fantastic. Cheers, carol

This also may be an atypical week as it was a holiday cruise. If there were many families onboard, that might explain why the less than stellar nightlife.

In most cases, I've seen the bars rocking until the wee hours. The only exception was in Alaska. The dance club had less than a dozen people in it every night. It was so bad that the CD started to joke about it before every show.
