EndlessSea Posted July 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Hi all, I'm considering an Azamara cruise. It would be my first. I'm a seasoned cruiser with Celebrity and Royal so I need some help in deciding if Azamara is right for me. I always travel with a friend and we always request our beds "apart." The information provided on the Azamara website states "two beds combined to a queen size bed" - on Celebrity and Royal their information states "two beds combined to a king" - so can anyone tell me if the beds as they stand alone are much smaller than a standard twin size bed in width and length? I've also looked at the suites and in images for some of them it does not appear that the bed can be separated into two beds because of a one piece headboard and footboard. So information is needed on this too. One last query - the casino. I know that due to the size of the ship, the casino is much smaller than those on Royal or Celebrity ships, but exactly how much smaller is it? We love playing the slots for entertainment. In general, how large is the casino and how many slot machines would you say there are? All you Azamara fans - help me out. Thanks!
Grandma Cruising Posted July 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2017 I've never had the beds as twins, but I'm sure they will be big, as when they are combined it's a huge bed. The description for the Club Continent suites says the beds can be single or combined, but the descriptions for the larger suites Club World Owners Suite and Club Ocean Suites very clearly say one King Size bed, so they obviously can't offer twin beds. The casino is pretty small,4 or so games tables and around 12-16 slots. They are not generally very well used, so no queues. excitedofharpenden Posted July 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 11, 2017 The single beds are a good size. Certainly not narrow. I think they are pretty much the same size as they are on Celebrity (from memory). All the double beds will split into twins except for the port side Club Ocean Suites and Club World Owner's Suites. On the starboard side they can be split. Here's a link to photos of the casino. Much smaller than on Celebrity and not that well used with less choice of slots. https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/photos/ships/azamara-journey-410/casino-310491/ Phil
Xport Posted July 11, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 11, 2017 The casinos on Journey and Quest were never very big but--unless they were downsized when the ships were recently remodeled; I haven't sailed with Azamara since--Azamara used to claim that each of the casinos was equipped with 75 slot machines... At the time, that count seemed about right... They were not heavily played and tended toward dated technology... If you are a member of Celebrity's Blue Chip Club and/or Royal's Club Royale [both--by invitation--for "good" casino players], suggest you give them a call... Their reps will be able to comment as to the slots on Azamara's ships and may be able to arrange for reciprocal membership if you sail Azamara... During the past few years, administration of the casino club aboard Azamara moved from Celebrity to Royal... Best I know, that's still true... Priya2 Posted July 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2017 I am taking my first Azamara Cruise next January, so I can't speak about their beds from experience. I expect them to be the same as Celebrity though - their beds are definitely not 'king size'. I hadn't noticed that description, but I have cruised on several Celebrity ships and in indoor, ocean view and balcony cabins, the beds are double size. ProfessorEFFE Posted July 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 15, 2017 EndlessSea, I have similar feelings as well as you. I don't really gamble so that is a bit of a difference. However like you I have quite a few Celebrity cruises under my belt as well as Royal. I have found there are never king sized beds in anything other than a suite, like the Presidential etc. I have heard these mattresses are even better than Celebrities. Quite frankly the Brilliance OTS had the worst mattresses I had ever slept on and I was in a suite! So here is a guess neither are the beds with Azamara. We are on an Oct and Nov cruise on the Quest. I expect a great cruise, simply because Azamara wants it to be one! Good Luck in your choice!

I think the beds are quite a bit bigger than double when pushed together. I think they're at least US Queen size or UK king size, probably a bit bigger than that. Double is only 4'6" or 137 cm. Apart they'd be a super-narrow 69 cm - like sleeping on an ironing board! :D
Grandma Cruising Posted July 15, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 15, 2017 I agree, they are way bigger than a UK king size (5ft). We have a UK king size at home and the Azamara bed is much wider. Sent from my iPad using Forums
AroundTheWorld1 Posted July 16, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Prior to the recent update my Mother and I shared a room and the beds were larger than a traditional single and extremely comfortable. Here's a picture from that trip..... Sent from my iPad using Forums
ProfessorEFFE Posted July 16, 2017 #11 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Thanks for posting that AroundTheWorld1 those singles look like they are between an American twin and a full size bed! Nice!
Leo_On_Geo Posted July 16, 2017 #12 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Thanks for posting that AroundTheWorld1 those singles look like they are between an American twin and a full size bed! Nice! You should use the Azamara bag shown on the bed for scale. The beds are smaller than American singles. Two American singles make an American king-size. Two Azamara singles make the Azamara Queen. EndlessSea Posted July 17, 2017 Author #13 Share Posted July 17, 2017 Thank you everyone for the information. It appears that the beds would be comparable to a standard twin. Since many comments state they are like Celebrity we will be fine. There's an upside to a smaller casino - saving money. Thanks again everyone! :)
pickypicky Posted July 17, 2017 #14 Share Posted July 17, 2017 We usually have them separated and they are each comfortable for one person. I think they would be larger than a US queen when combined. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
