MSC vs Princess

We are elite passengers with Princess. We have always enjoyed sailing with them. Princess has started to make changes that may determine if they will continue to be our go to cruise line.

We are looking at MSC. Please provide any pro and cons Princess vs MSC. MSC has provided us Black status to match our Princess status. We are in our 60s, no children, like to play in the casino, and enjoy discovering new ports. Preferred ports would be sailing out of Florida.

Any comments are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks.

You go on a different cruise line because you are tired of the old, or you want a different experience. Just like you go to Europe because you are tired of the Caribbean. So treat it as a new experience. Don't expect it to be just like Princess. Rejoice in the differences. EM

Hi Super,

Take advantage of the Dining Package. You will receive a free dinner and you should do at least 2 others. The biggest complaint is comparing the MDR to Princess. If you do the Dining Package you will have a great time.

I have done more than a half dozen on each Princess and MSC. The food is less processed on MSC but the portions smaller and they shoehorn you into the MDR. The casino and entertainment especially seems better on MSC. More chances for free drinks too on MSC. However, I would never book MSC anymore now that I have experienced their buffet in the MDR for lunch and breakfast. Awful, really awful from a relaxation stand point, I don't want to serve myself on a cruise. If you are used to Princess and don't like the Regal and Royal, you won't like MSC so much. The Black Card status match gets you a few perks but nothing fnatastic.
