asubaru Posted July 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2017 (edited) NCL Transatlantic arriving Thursday, April 2018 (scheduled for 8AM) Manhattan Cruise Terminal Looking for recommendations for: -Which airport to fly out of and timing. We would like to take a noon flight. I am not sure about timing due to customs being involved and week day traffic. -Car service, Uber, Lyft We are not interested in public transport ,nor NCL bus service and we will not be traveling light. We are definite on car service or Uber/Lyft. I have read some good comments about Camel. I have read/researched for months. Much of the info doesn't exactly apply to my circumstances. I understand LGA, EWR and JFK are under construction (and will be for some time). We have a choice of flights from all 3 airports and pricing is about the same. I would appreciate any experiences/opinions. Edited July 13, 2017 by asubaru

Were you planning to self disembark and carry off all your luggage?
Rare Noxequifans Posted July 13, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2017 Agree that a noon flight would work. LGA is undergoing construction so your choices are JFK or EWR. The car services (Dial 7 and Carmel) are used by many.
asubaru Posted July 13, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted July 13, 2017 We could but we're in the Haven and should get priority disembarkation; not sure if we'd get priority in the walk off line. Not having done a transatlantic before, not sure if we have priority in clearing customs. Thx for your input. We could book a 2:30 flight.....I just anticipate being anxious to get home :-) I think a noon flight for an 8 am transatlantic arrival is too tight on a Thursday morning. Rare Got2Cruise Posted July 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 13, 2017 The cruise terminal is on the Westside of Manhattan with easy access to the Lincoln Tunnel directly to the road to EWR. If all things being equal I would choose EWR. The traffic going crosstown on a weekday, especially rush hour is very heavy. Brighton Line Posted July 13, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2017 Customs can take longer to clear a ship that is not on a close loop cruise as well as how many crew will be clearing on board and it may just be a normal length clear. Even with escort from Haven to the Pier you may not make a Noon flight during rush hour. Lot of empty buses returning to New Jersey thru the Lincoln tunnel which is still under inbound lane reversal. I would know my alternatives if attempting.
asubaru Posted July 16, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Thanks....we are leaning towards EWR around 2:30, mainly due to disembarkment uncertainty. If things go smoothly, we'll try to change or standby for earlier flights. The cruise terminal is on the Westside of Manhattan with easy access to the Lincoln Tunnel directly to the road to EWR. 138east Posted July 16, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Sounds like a more comfortable plan that will better cover your particular circumstances.
Rare Got2Cruise Posted July 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Sounds like a more comfortable plan that will better cover your particular circumstances. Agreed. And booking a reputable car service is important too. The driver needs to be aware of traffic conditions and if there is a major delay be prepared for alternative routes (unfortunately happens on a regular basis at all the tunnels and bridges) Sent from my iPhone using Forums
