seamagic Posted November 29, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2005 Our cruise departs from Port Everglades and I'm trying to figure out which airport to fly in and out of. If I fly into PBI or MIA, what is the best ground transportation to the port? If you've done this before, I'd really appreciate some advice. Bequia Posted November 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2005 Larrys limo services all 3 airports http://larryslimo.com/ if you need something a little more economical perhaps Tri-County Airport Express will suit you http://www.floridalimo.com/Pages/sharedr.html. For PBI Cruise Connection http://www.cruise-connection.com/ Best bet is to fly into FLL. Even if the airfare costs a little more any savings at the other two airports may disappear with the ground transportation costs. ;)
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 30, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2005 If the flights are convenient and the price is right I would go with Fort Lauderdale since the airport is just a few minutes away from the port. In addition to the savings in ground transportation you will also spend far less time getting to the port should that be a factor in your decision. Pumbaamd Posted December 2, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 2, 2005 We've done all three airports, not just for cruises but other vacations. It's cheaper to fly into West Palm, but the traffic on I-95 can be horrendous. Don't even think of Tri-Rail from West Palm to FLL. It's a great commuter service, but you don't want to schelp your cruise luggage on and off of it. You'd have to grab a taxi at FLL Tri-Rail. Better to take a cab from FLL airport. If you are sailin' outta Pt. Everglades, it's a no brainer. Go FLL.
Bequia Posted December 2, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 2, 2005 Don't even think of Tri-Rail from West Palm to FLL. It's a great commuter service Sorry to say it's NOT a great commuter service. The trains are rarely on schedule, they share the tracks with CSX freight trains and must yield the right of way if a CSX train is coming through. This past week commuters were stranded on the trains for two hours due to signal problems.

Desert Cruisers Posted December 11, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 11, 2005 Fly into Fort Lauderdale. As previously mentioned, the port is very close to the airport. Secondly, FLL is a much smaller airport than MIA and therefore it is easier to navigate.
