My take on Star Class

Wow, a lot of interesting opinions 🙂 Agree with the all the positive reviews, and now know to book at least 2 years in advance. Many thanks for the tips. Can I ask, do you book directly with RC in order to track price changes? How do you know if the price decreases if there is only 1 of that class of room, eg there is only 1 villa suite, 1 Royal suite on each ship.

@LorraineP, just wondering have you travelled Star Class before? How would you compare the two, other than the lounge being much better? Would the butler reserve seats/book specialty dining etc? I found having the Genie very helpful, especially on Symphony as the queues for shows was mad - it would extend from the theatre snaking all the way down into the casino, so with 4 kids, not having to wait was a big deal. It was also the small things, such as being given a body sponge /shower cap when requested, that made life a lot simpler. Having only stayed in balcony rooms previously, the service we received this time felt much more luxurious.

Stayed in Star Class a few times & eating in the Coastal Kitchen was the plus. Suite & Conciege lounges were overcrowded.

On MSC YC the experience starts as soon as you arrive at the port. There’s a tent with butler waiting to escort you into a large YC waiting area where there’s champagne etc. You have a seat then shortly your name is called, go to desk, sign in & your butler escorts you through security & onto ship into the most beautiful YC lounge where you can order any kind of drink you want, we had frozen mud slides, there are sandwiches etc available. Our suite was ready before the general public & luggage was waiting for us. Unlike RCL Star Class we had our own pool, 2 spas, padded lounge chairs, grill, bar never any problem getting a lounge chair.  At the grill there was a selection usually of 3 fishes, different carving & pasta selection everyday, hamburgers, all which were grilled or prepared for you when ordered not sitting in warmers. Servers would bring your selection to you. YC lounge was huge with its own long bar & always plenty of sitting available. Every night a piano player & a violinist. We had access to the thermal spa area where there was a thermal pool, steam, salt, snow rooms, different showers, heated loungers, never crowded.

Your butler will get you anything you wanted, within reason of course. The YC concierge reserved our shows, specialty restaurant, helped me get on internet on iPad, printed our room statement whenever we asked, printed our flight home boarding pass, arranged for a future cruise consultant to come to lounge to book future cruise. No need to go to guest services for anything.  All these things were done graciously & with a smile, never hurrying you.

On the last day you were asked to vacate our room by 7:30AM but we were able to stay in YC lounge until 10:30 with open bar, cappuccino & snacks. When we decided to leave a butler escorted us off the ship bypassing huge crowds. Luggage was waiting for us in the YC area.

If you have any other questions would be happy to answer.

Under $10,000 doesn't seem too bad.  I may end up keeping an eye out more closely for Star suites and see if anything pops up for a decent price.

Just booked Allure eastbound TA. Price had gone up over Oasis.  11 grand. Still a couple left
