Hey everyone.

Just wanted to share my msc Meraviglia experience as I normally travel NCL and we wanted to try this new ship.

We are currently 4 days into the cruise and in summary:

- The ship is beautiful. Very well decorated and designed

- It's great I've not smelt any cigarette smoke since I got on! Amazing.

- I don't like the casino too much because it's near the theatre and kids are all around. No effort from staff to remove them. Even at 2am!

- We boarded in Barcelona which was amazing because some people get on in each port making embarking very easy.

- The drinks package for €26 is amazing. Very good value and easy to use.

- The dinner service in the MDR is horrible and 2 hours wait for main courses! The service is bad and food is very poor quality.

- The worst problem on the boat is our room. The ship is 1 month old and it's very dirty. We have called reception 5 times and seen them once. No one cares and customer service on the boat is the worst I ever experienced. The last people left black stains on sofa, floor and scratched all the door

- There are no hygienic stations with the bacterial gel anywhere on the ship. No "washy-washy" like on NCL and seabourn.

See below for some photos of the bad state of the ship already.

I am happy to answer questions and I will try and upload the daily program later this week

Thanks for reading

Happy cruising.

Daniel

Thanks, Daniel.

Your toilet looked LIKE THAT when you entered your room? OMG, that's the first thing I've read/seen that makes me wonder about my cruises. (I wish I hadn't just eaten breakfast cuz I may be losing it[emoji44] )

Hey

No the toilet is in the restaurant. Sofa was my room. The buggies are in the casino.

But we found the toilet like that and I alerted an officer in white. He told me it's not his problem and carried on. Then we heard people shouting as it overflowed totally.

Worst staff I ever experienced on a ship

Regards

Daniel

I was on the Meraviglia July 14 to July 21 and I saw staff removing kids from the casino. I guess that some did and some didn't cared about it.

That's one of the things we liked the least on our cruise! Embarking in every port took away some of the cruisefeeling and made it feel more like a transport between the ports.

I understand that it makes both embarkation and disembarkation easier but we were in the Yacht Club so it should probably have been easy for us anyway.

I think that was totally unacceptable and I should have reported the officer. He can not say that it's not his problem, very unprofessional!

The ship is very dirty.

Sounds like some passengers onboard were - the ship itself is spotless, as are all MSC ships. One disgusting toilet and some marks left by selfish, inconsiderate cabin guests does not equate to the ship being very dirty.

Hey

Thank you yes I understand that. I should have said the boat is very unhygienic. It's generally clean because it's new.

But it's shocking it's 1 month old and they are not maintaining it. There is even smashed glass floor in the casino also.

Compared to other cruise lines there is no push for people to clean their hands.

MSC has never pushed the hand sanitisers on their ships. There's a school of thought that they're not effective in preventing noro-virus. I'm not weighing in on that one but MSC has one of the lowest incidences of noro-virus recorded. I've been on 16 MSC cruises and have never had a problem, unlike the ONE time I was on Celebrity and the ship was in clean-up mode from an outbreak on the previous cruise.

"It's generally clean because it's new". ALL MSC ships are very clean and well-maintained. There are numerous reviews on here, even from those who didn't enjoy their MSC experience, that attest to that.

I'm wondering if you mean the glass floor entrance to the casino - are you saying that that's' smashed?

Ok, well, I can understand a public toilet being like that although I agree that the officer did have some responsibility to report it to the correct source.

Mmmm those sofas don't seem to be very stain resistant - we also had a stain on our sofa!

They should do something to clean the stains off but they won't do much to fix your door.

It was great not to smell smoke although some people were smoking on one side of the pool.

Yes we constantly saw kids in the casino into the early hours too.

And the food service doesn't seem to have improved then!

That officer should definitely have done something about the toilet, not acceptable at all! Even if he didn't deal with it personally & needed to get a maintenance team in then he still should have done something!

The glass floor entrance to the casino has a one panel of glass that has smashed inside so all the glass is cracked. Bit of an odd thing as to how it may have happened!

Hi, db85. Thanks for the review....we are also NCL cruisers and looking at a possible fling with MSC. We usually travel in the Haven and are considering the Yacht Club because of the increasing NCL prices. Do you have a spa list for your cruise? Just trying to weigh the differences, since we usually will hit the spa for the trip length Thermal suite and at least 3 massages (because of the 10,20,30% off promotion).

I hope the rest of your trip goes smoothly!

Hey yes see below. The spa is not what I expected compared to the breakaway/getaway. There is no indoor spa pool. There is a bed area but only 2ft deep.

The special offer was buy 6 get 2 massages free.

The one thing I was shocked about. We bought a massage and the spa entrance is not! Included in this price.

Also there was one special offer today. See below.

The spa also has no outside windows except in treatment rooms. So my plan to use it at sea day is cancelled.

The 26€ package is what we're on. It's not premium just the all inclusive. The drinks are good but not premium. All items on menu without a "*" are included. Wine is Chardonnay Italian wine for white. Red I'm not sure and will take photos tonight of both bottles for you!

The Chardonnay is a little buttery with a nice smooth palate and a rounded finish. In short a good Chardonnay!

Beer is Heineken and you can have from tap or bottle.

Gin is Gordon's or Beefeater. Vodka is Smirnoff.

There's actually a choice of 2 whites, 2 reds and 1 rosé. However, no-one ever seems to be given the choice. Up until recently, it used to include a choice of 2 sparkling, but, apparently that is in the process of being withdrawn.

We've always gone with the premium drinks package for the wider range of wines. But, since the price has increased and the range of drinks diminished, we are only getting the basic package in the future. I will certainly be insisting on having the choices that should be offered.
