fur_ever21 Posted July 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2017 Hello fellow cruisers. We're setting sail on Ruby Princess out of Seattle on Aug 19th I was told that formal attire for men was a dark suit or tuxedo. My husband's suit is grey. Do you think that would be acceptable? Thank you in advance.

On y va! Posted July 29, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2017 Hello fellow cruisers. We're setting sail on Ruby Princess out of Seattle on Aug 19th I was told that formal attire for men was a dark suit or tuxedo. My husband's suit is grey. Do you think that would be acceptable? Thank you in advance. No worries. As long as it is clean and neat, it will be fine. You will see a variety of levels of 'formal' but colour is not mandatory. A tie is a good idea. floridalover5623 Posted July 29, 2017 #18 Share Posted July 29, 2017 What exactly do you mean? Do you think the grey suit would be acceptable? Of course it'll be fine. Princess's dress code is written very loosely and the color of a suit doesn't even enter to it. They just give examples for those that wish to follow them. Some do and some don't. You'll see. LeeW Posted July 30, 2017 #20 Share Posted July 30, 2017 He can wear any color he likes. Red, green, grey, black of no jacket at all. Had an older guy on our last cruise (maybe 80) with long white beard. He really did wear a red suit on formal nights (and everyone commented on how great he looked). On most cruises a suit puts you in the top 30% of dressed up. They often do not allow shorts or torn clothing in the dining room. But even this varies from cruise to cruise. I wear a tux, but that's because it was cheaper to buy than a suit and we like to dress up.

Cruisin' Chick Posted July 30, 2017 #23 Share Posted July 30, 2017 My hubby has one suit which he bought for promotional interviews at work. It's a tan tweed, and that's the one he brings on cruises, along with dress shirts and festive ties.
