CruiserByHeart Posted August 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2017 Not all quintuplets are alike - and this is even so with the beautiful Solstice class ships. But, just what are the differences between Eclipse and her sisters? I know that Eclipse debuted the iPad in Qsine (maybe even before Apple formally launched the iPad) and that the grand staircase on Solstice is "straight down" while curved on some of her younger sisters. And of course Silhouette and Reflection both have the Lawn Club Grill, but no Hot Glass Show. And Equinox has a true Gastropub where the others just have a fridge in the Passport Bar. So, what other differences have you noticed about the Eclipse?
Tiggertastic Posted August 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2017 Eclipse has a gastro where passport is on others, with multiple fridges and bar sommeliers. It also has a screen viewing bar they put in the casino bar on refit, a set of big screen TVs and seats and not just little screens over the bar. Yes the staircase on eclipse differs from silhouette too. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Yes the staircase on eclipse differs from silhouette too. The big screens and extra seating at near the bar, in place of a few slots that probably were under used, is a big plus in my eyes. If only they'd do that on the other S-Class ships. :)

Rare chemmo Posted August 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2017 We miss Silk Harvest on Eclipse, much prefer to Q'sine....otherwise very little difference. If we didn't sometimes have a change or room and see different views out of the window we wouldn't know which ship we were on!
Kitekat Posted August 12, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 12, 2017 I think the simplest difference between the ships is the entrance lobby to the Ensemble Lounge. Each has unique decoration which I love. The golden ants on Solstice are probably my favourites and I can spend some considerable time identifying which one I would like to dig out and take home, if they ever became available... My favourite too...I get really cross when fellow guests make no effort to avoid standing on them!
Ox Fan Cruiser Posted August 12, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 12, 2017 (edited) Isn't the Grand Staircase and Tree holder between the elevators different on each S class ship? Also, Reflection has the extra deck in the mid section. Edited August 12, 2017 by Ox Fan Cruiser

Also, Reflection has the extra deck in the mid section. Just found an old photo from the Solstice showing a red pyramid shaped tree holder and on the Reflection it more looked like roots than the reflection of the tree itself 🤔 I think the simplest difference between the ships is the entrance lobby to the Ensemble Lounge. Each has unique decoration which I love. The golden ants on Solstice are probably my favourites and I can spend some considerable time identifying which one I would like to dig out and take home, if they ever became available... It's been too long since our cruise on the Solstice for me to remember the ants... I'm sorry 😶 On the Reflection we enjoyed the birds chirping as we passed through to the Ensemble lounge 😉 What's here on the Eclipse? Also, on the wall outside Blu on Reflection was a painting that was a flatscreen that had subtle changes to the motif ☺
jagoffee Posted August 20, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 20, 2017 For me the most significant difference is in the Aft outside Oceanview seating area. They have many Lounge type table and chairs with a bar. I find the low tables on the railing uncomfortable for dining. IMO it was an experiment that did not work out and therefore was not duplicated on the later Solstice Class ships.
GordonJasmine Posted August 20, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 20, 2017 I know it's probably not important to anyone else, but I really miss that adorable white dog figurine at the entrance to Michael's Club when not on the Eclipse. I also like the artwork better, It doesn't seem so modern to me.
Nana57 Posted August 20, 2017 #12 Share Posted August 20, 2017 I will miss the Eclipse next year when it doesn't sail to the Caribbean in the winter. Will there be other 14 days cruises or only b2b. The only one is Canada/New England. Sent from my iPad using Forums
ChucktownSteve Posted August 20, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 20, 2017 The Equinox aft elevator atrium had "Here Comes The Sun" with one word on each deck. The Eclipse did not.
Xport Posted August 20, 2017 #14 Share Posted August 20, 2017 The Equinox aft elevator atrium had "Here Comes The Sun" with one word on each deck. The Eclipse did not. Trivia... When the Solstice-Class ships first when into service starting in 2008, the first two--Solstice and Equinox--had a "ship song" that was played at initial sail-away... On Solstice, it was "Beautiful Day" by U-2 [though not noted in the atrium]; on Equinox, it was "Here Comes The Sun" by The Beatles... The practice of having a "ship song" was not carried through on Eclipse, Silhouette, or Reflection... And I haven't seen the practice of playing the "ship song" at initial sail-away on Solstice and Equinox in many years now...
Paulras Posted August 20, 2017 #15 Share Posted August 20, 2017 Eclipse solarium has burnt orange cushions instead of blue on Equinox. And the Aquaspa Cafe is flipped around. Don't ask why but these things ruined my other half's cruise on Eclipse. Sent from my SM-G950U using Forums mobile app

CruiserByHeart Posted August 20, 2017 Author #18 Share Posted August 20, 2017 If your sensbilities are easily jarred Not really ;) but great insight the primary color palette in Blu is green! :D All jokes aside - I'm just curious about the differences between the almost-all-alike ships. What's with the "color coded bars" on the front of deck 6 at the crew deck? Anyone made note of the differences?
