Deployment 2019-20 booking season begins

Can the Quantum class transit the Panama Canal -- the ship would fit in the new locks but what about the bridge?

The Bridge has been a topic of discussion on a number of threads. Hoopster95 posted a picture he took of some specifications from the Quantum (IIRC) which showed the air draft of the ship to be 205' which is the highest permitted air draft for the BoA.

But without wanting to destroy your optimism and illusion: I do not see this happening in foreseeable future.

Look at the past deployments.

RCI did not even offer cruises through the Panama Canal every year.

Next year, by the end of 2018, Vision is the first RCI ship after three years break to operate through the Panama Canal!

And it’s clearly one of their smaller ships with fewer passenger capacities, compared to her other fleet mates.

I don’t know how well these two Canal cruises in late fall 2018 sell, but I am sure RCI will watch the situation, and will be rather careful on that.

And I don’t think the following season RCI will not get started and break through with a Quantum Class ship in such an itinerary.

For those groundbreaking ships there’s other markets which are way more profitable. Imho Alaska could be more realistic. Why? As it seems, so many wait for Quantum Class coming to Alaska, and other lines expand in Alaska with mega ships, like NCL with Bliss in 2018, and Princess will send Royal there in 2019.

Royal just posted on their Instagram story.

They’re releasing 2019-2020 cruises.

The one image shows Quantum Class in Alaska...

A FB page has shared your mentioned image, showing the North Star of Quantum Class with Alaskan glaciers in background.

I don’t know if it’s just a common photomontage without any further message, or if it means RCI REALLY deploys a Q Class ship there in 2019...

My guess is that Ovation will rotate between Alaska and Australia. Spectrum will do China and Singapore as Voyager is leaving in March 2019. Quantum will remain in China as changing her to suit American market might just send her into drydock and Ovation isn't changed much due to her rotation between Asia and Australia. This leaves Explorer which I don't know where she will go. Maybe full time in Australia or back across the Panama canal for more Caribbean cruises

Assuming Ovation leaves Far East bound for Alaska and we know Voyager leaves Far East bound for Europe, two ships are left for Far East: Quantum, and the newly arriving Spectrum otS.

That would be one ship less compared to before's deployment - so either RCI plans to pull out one ship from Far East, or Explorer fits into the Far East deployment then.

So obviously still no Quantum Class ship for a full Europe season... :(

Under this scenario, Explorer could home port in Brisbane at the new terminal due for completion in the southern Spring of 2019. A year round deployment is possible, but more likely to be seasonal at first, sharing either with Alaska (a third ship) or Asia (given departure of Mariner and Voyager).

Going to be hard to decide which to do. Re-Positioning Cruise on the Spectrum or Quantum to Alaska. Give me a good price and great itinerary Royal!

Quantum is fully decked out for China market so I don't see her going to Alaska. Ovation on the other hand could be a possibility. Ovation comes to Australia for summer and then heads up to Singapore for Winter so she could head to Alaska when Explorer and Radiance leave Oz. Ovation is more Western friendly where as Quantam had the casino space doubled when it hit Asia.

Of course I know this! :D

Let's see if the itineraries themselves will be published, or just the deployment schedule that shows which deployment will be opened when - as in the past years.

However, X did not do it like that, so we'll see... :)

X released their schedule already and the 2019 Europe is open . Caribbean / Bermuda / NE / Panama Canal (and I forget what else) will open at the end of November. The Rest towards the middle of December. I wish Royal were more like this. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

And there we go!

Europe is open to book the week of Dec 11, 2017.

Some excerpts of the upcoming 2019/20 season - some ships are still excluded from the deployment overveiw:

-Ovation otS: Alaska from Seattle!

-Oasis otS: 7 night Med from Barcelona

-Nvaigator otS: Short runs from Miami

-Mariner otS: Short runs from Pt. Canaveral

Interesting: Quantum otS; Independence otS; Explorer otS or Voyager otS are not listed here at all.

Further, no evidence on sailings from Southampton, and Asia and Australia are fully excluded. Seems, the picture just refers to the summer season of Western waters.

I like it :) Although Symphony to PC would be better than Harmony!!

And bookings opening months earlier than usual
