sunshine3838 Posted August 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2017 Will be on the Gem leaving next Saturday for the Bahama. On weather.com, prediction is thunderstorm. I was wondering if they will still tender, if not, will that be another sea day or will they provide two days in Nassau, Bahama? Thanks.
SeaShark Posted August 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2017 There is simply no way that anyone can predict that. Maybe they will...maybe they won't...who really knows? However, as you will be on the ship at the time, you will know the answer before anyone else here does.
Sauer-kraut Posted August 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2017 Thunderstorm in the Bahamas might only last 4 minutes, and not over the whole island .... don't stress it.
JimR24 Posted August 20, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2017 I hope you get the chance to go. We didn't on our March cruise. Winds and seas were high and it wasn't safe to tender. From talking to our room steward, he said it's about a 50/50 chance every trip. As much as we would love to see GSC, we are going to choose NCL cruises that don't have this in the ports. We are going to stick with NCL though, even though they allow people to wear shorts at dinner.
Rare BirdTravels Posted August 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2017 We are 5 for 5 at getting to GSC. That is uncharacteristically high given that ships anchor in unprotected, open ocean. Good luck.
poohdreaming Posted August 20, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 20, 2017 For all cruises that go to GSC, there are unanswered questions if your cruise is able to make it to the port or not as it is a tender port. It depends on the weather as well as if the captain say if it is safe to go or not. If not able to go - it also depends on the captain - some cruises will arrive at Nassau earlier or it can be another sea day in the ocean. They can also changed their plan just as having all people go back to the cruise ship earlier if they see a bad storm coming. They will announce it to let everyone know of their plan. lulu22715 Posted August 20, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2017 Weather showed thunderstorms for our day in GSC right before we left (8/5/17) also but we could not have had more beautiful day. Hope the weather makes a change for the better for you as well! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
