Just booked our first RC cruise on this ship... hubby, 8 year old son, and myself. (Cruised Carnival and Norwegian formerly) I'll start my obsessive research very soon, but I would like to hear personal stories if you are willing to share what you love!

Thank you in advance!

It's my favorite class of RCCL ships! I love the Royal Promenade. We like to stay in the Promenade-view staterooms. (Just remember to close the curtains before changing! :o)

We like to sit at Vintages and have a glass of wine with cheese and fruit before dinner. Nice place to people watch!

  • Lots of live music including a 9-piece ship's orchestra
  • Theater shows
  • Schooner Bar (deck 4 forward of the casino)
  • Viking Crown (deck 14)
  • 70's disco night in the Royal Promenade (deck 5)
  • Shrimp cocktail every night

There's a DreamWorks parade one afternoon on the Promenade. It's a lot of fun. There will also be DreamWorks photo opportunities - and even some impromptu chances to see them. We stopped on one formal night for family pictures on the Promenade near Ben & Jerry's. Gloria from Madagascar popped out of a door right next to us, and jumped into our picture! The photographer did a terrific job of capturing the kids' reactions, and now I have a family picture with a photobombing hippo on our wall. It really sums up the fun that we had that week.

I do not recommend the DreamWorks character breakfast. Our experience was that all kids under age 7 enjoyed it. All kids age 8 and over were bored.

My 8-10-year-olds really enjoyed rock climbing and ice skating (bring pants and socks) and the water splash area.

It's a really nice ship.. We have our second Liberty trip booked for 2019.

Cafe Promenade ("CP" -- deck 5) is open almost all the time and IMO has the best coffee. No charge. CP has pre-made sandwiches, cookies, and desserts. Sometimes I skip dessert in the main dining room and get dessert from CP later -- or even get dessert in both places. CP is a good place to grab coffee and a pastry in the morning, especially for the early risers who don't want to wait for the buffet (deck 11) or the MDR (deck 3) to open.

LOS also has Sorrentos on deck 5 with pizza, salad, and other Italian stuff. No charge. It is not open all the time like CP. It is especially liked by kids who want lots of pizza, but Adults like it too.

Also sometimes on sea days there is a cookout by the pool on deck 11. The lines for this can be long and slow though.

Two entertainers who sometimes are on LOS are Derek Lewis and Voytek. Derek is usually in the pub on deck 5 nights and is really fun. Voytek is fantastic on an acoustic guitar; his location varies so check your daily newsletter.

They have cut back on entertainment a little , Derek Lewis has not been on since last year, hope he comes back, he also is not exactly good for children, adult daycare is his show.

Ice Skating show is amazing for all ages

Derek Lewis is playing in San Antonio now. His shows are listed on his Facebook page Five Minute Party. We hate that Royal let him go unsigned. Best entertainment out of Galveston ever!

Totally agree, wish he was playing in Dallas, rccl is crazy not to resign him, he normally had a standing room only audience , we were lucky enough to see him a few times
