Worst cruise ever

I've been on several cruises before but Norwegian Epic has been THE worst!

 

Rude staff, kids in the adult zone, no respect for the people getting on board. Special treatment for those getting on at Barcelona port. Got severely ill from the food eaten at the buffet and was stuck in my room for nearly two days. Rooms never cleaned on time, poor service, extra and hidden fees and charges for everything. I repeat do not return! Get your money back if you haven't been on this cruise yet.

I am always amazed at posters who can find, for the first time CC and only to gripe. You got sick from food in the buffet, what about others, did they get sick as well? Rude kids, I can believe that but is that NCLs fault or the fault of the parents? Cruise during the summer and you are going to find as many kids as adults. That is life. :(:(

Rooms never cleaned on time, what is on time to you? Are you the only room or cabin that the steward has to clean? Rude crew, I have been on too many ships to believe they were rude without reason. I don't care what line. Oh and extra charges? What extra charges? There is not one thing you have to spend an extra penny on you don't want to. If you don't want to spend the money, go without? Sorry, I don't think many are going to take your word for this unless others come on and complain about the same cruise. As for get your money back, isnt that a matter of opinion? :p:rolleyes:

Whew, brutal NCLers. The OP had a bad time and reported it. The cruise was not up to their expectations, regardless what they were. It is all in the opinion of that particular person, what they expected and what they felt they got, and they have a right to it.

I understand being loyal to your chosen cruise line but geez, reviews are individual and everyone has the right to theirs.

A review, yes, but this was anything but a review. It is filled with holes and probably posted by someone who will never return. Let's face it nothing is all bad unless you let it be. And first time posters normally come here ask questions not to post questionable remarks. It he was truly a review that would be different. :eek:

This guy is mad because one of his ports got cancelled. He has been posting all over the ncl facebook page for months now. Sadly he cannot move on and enjoy his life but rather needs to endlessly vent over something that is common to all cruise lines. Bottom line is that he failed to read the contract and he is blaming ncl for that!

Thanks for the explanation. I knew there had to be a hidden agenda. Now let's see if her responds at all? I doubt it.

Welcome to NCL. Most of us just ignore that bad aspects of our cruise. We spend so much money that we simply want to remember the good parts.

Oh dear, I've been on epic six times and it's one of my favourite ships but my last one was not as enjoyable as the others, I know why and it's nothing that could have been fixed e.g bad weather not getting into port but I've certainly booked epic again. Maybe the op will try another line or ship.

Of course they do, but it is difficult to see the poster as a reliable source when they can't find a single good thing and default to hyperbole. Unfortunately when it is simply a list of negative items (some of which don't make sense) along with a warning to other customers to cancel, it comes across as sour grapes and revenge.

 

Give me a balance review of the good, bad and neutral and then I will engage.

There were 8 things that they disliked. And those were extremely vague. Was every single staff member they encountered rude? That would tell me the problem more likely lies with them and not the staff. They never mentioned 1 thing they liked. Do you not find this unusual? Maybe their expectations were totally unrealistic? They chose to come here and post a rant. What about the people who come to cruise critic, read the OP's post, and eliminate NCL from their choices?

 

What I find even more frustrating than posters like the OP are the amatuer moderators who like to come on here any verbally slap the knuckles of any poster who doesn't buy in and offers a counter point, which might be a bit humorous. Surely the real moderators would intervene if any lines were crossed.

Right? Since people just don't know how to be happy even if they went there bent backwards. Sometimes I wish people you would go and not do the things that those people do. Just have fun!!!!! Happy cruisin!!!!!!:cool::D

Apparenly you, and others on this board, need to read the Guidelines for posting on CC. No ridicule of grammar, including spelling, sentence structure or other types of errors, are found to be acceptable. You and others really need to read the guidelines since you, nor some others, including myself, are perfect!

There are also a number of people who suffer from learning disabilities and who have difficulty noticing their spelling mistakes. Do not make comments on the spelling and grammar of other users. This comment is so true. Our last cruise was a 2 ships no-fly cruise from the UK. To and from New York on the Queen Mary 2 and a cruise sandwiched inbetween on the Breakaway. Couldn't be more different! This was over New Year and when I looked at some of the comments my heart sank. As senior citizens we usually sail either out of season or on ships without too many children. It's a case of 'been there, done that' it's now our time for some reasonable peace and quiet. When I asked a few questions re the ship a number of posters 'jumped' on me for choosing such a trip that I began to get quite worried. But the ship was not our choice, it was part of the package and we were 'stuck' with it.

 

Well, guess what. We had a great time and would willingly go again.

 

My point is it's of no help to people to simply post on here a rant with no details. If things were as bad as the OP made out I would prefer details. Also, surely there were some good points? Not everything is purely black and white.

If someone reads a post like this and eliminates a cruise line, they really are not doing much research. Their loss. Does not matter which cruise line - there are always that small percent that are so unhappy and so out of touch.

 

REMINDER - any posts made here are for general consumption. I doubt the original poster will ever be here again. Just another one post wonder.

But in response to your comment above. If any negative one time or first posts only pop in to complain, I do actually get it. Some people do little or no research before a vacation. They choose to fly by the seat of their pants, learn as they go. Then when they return, their vacation was not what they had expected, was disappointing or something upset them. And some, if one thing irks them, they will nit pick until they find every negative thing about that vacation. They go to google to find where they can complain and "warn" future vacationers about their experience and find CC. I actually feel sorry for people like that, that don't look for the rainbows through the clouds. Must be a bitter life to live.

 

I work with the public, I rarely hear anything we do right but let one little thing upset someone and they are running to scream it to the world.

Yup. One post wonders who had a bad time seem like they want to find a place to rant. I guess they believe that they are going to spread the gospel that their cruise was terrible and want to try and "stick it" to the cruise line by feeling like they warned people off, and the cruise line will lose money. Whatever makes them feel better about themselves, I suppose.

We've been on several wonderful cruises over the years except one particular cruise that was less pleasant and not because of the crew. The crew were/are outstanding in every aspect in making our cruises memorable and enjoyable.

 

Sadly there were the few (the very, very few) inconsiderate fellow passengers who appeared to be unwilling to accept/understand fellow passengers with mobility issues. At times we were made to feel as if we were intruding on 'their ship/their cruise'.

 

That's sad.

Not saying that this is the case here but on the topic...

 

Some of the worst reviews seem to come from the most insufferable of insufferable. I honestly don't know why the people cruise. If you've been on more than one cruise, inevitably you've encountered these people.

They seem to stroll through life with one purpose... To drag every inch of the world that they encounter, no matter who it effects, down to the level of wretched, negative existence that is their life. They know no other way.

They only thing I don't understand is... Why are they wasting money on a cruise when they can be miserable and ruin everyone else's life at home? I fear the answer is that they have forced everyone that is our had ever been remotely close to them to the corners of the earth to get away from them. A cruise or other like vacation exposes them to new, unsuspecting souls to unleash their incessant, vampire-like, dark cloud of perpetual despair and insanity.

When you encounter these individuals... When you see them ripping a waitress or bartender to shreds, approach them, and hug them. Hug them with all your might!

Force feed them love and positivivity! They may resist. When that happens, hug tighter!

 

Now, this has caused a few scenes when I've done it but in the end, I feel good.

 

Love will conquer all! Some people just need to be force feed love.

Most people know about the bathroom situation and fall into 1 of 3 categories.

1. I don't have a problem with it.

2. I book an Epic stateroom that doesn't have that setup.

3. I book a different NCL ship.

 

#2 doesn't apply. They all have that set up. We choose #3.

 

There's a reason they only built one Epic class ship.

I got sick on the Epic when I lost $300 playing roulette in the casino

 

Don't feel bad 6K loss playing Blackjack on the Epic. At least I am taking two comped cruises but it still stings. BTW it was the best cruise ever. The staff, food, entertainment were stellar. And yes, even my room was cleaned on time:cool:

Okay, Thanks, you saved me the trouble. It is just what I suspected. One thing really sets somebody off and then it just compounds. I force myself not to fall into that trap. In all honesty sometimes it takes a good bar and plenty of booze to make it all go away but I will do whatever it takes.

 

I refuse to let one or two lousy experiences ruin my entire trip. For that matter I go in expecting 6 or more things to not be to my liking and I just move on.

 

To get a little of topic a birthday trip to Orlando went downhill fast. We found a good bar with cheap beer and a pool table. We wound up having a blast.

Kinda pleased to know that someone who moans so much will not be on board.

What is this "SPECIAL TREATMENT" that you speak of? Is it adult in nature? :D

 

 

 

This is a valid issue for some people.

 

As the main embarkation port is Barcelona it can seem to those who board in Civitavecchia that they have joined in the middle of the cruise, and a lot of people don't like that (no proper sail away, issues with booking restaurants, things like that).

 

I can't imagine it being too major an issue but it does seem to be a problem for some.
