Just noticed our inside cabin has shot up in price I got it for £1431 it's now up over £2000 including "free" drinks.

Today's price is BOGOHO + 'Free' Drinks Package

 

They're going to screw the price in their favour every time, and jack it up to couter-act the cost of the 'free'; benefits. If the price is right for you, book it. If not, wait and see if a better price comes along, or vote with your feet and find a price on a different cruise line that suits you.

We booked Symphony for £780 without DP, now it is £1123 for the same week with promotion, the same as paying £49 pn. Ok if you were going to book it anyway but not so good if you didn't want it :o

 

Also the 30% off DP etc. doesn't apply to Symphony :mad:

Just out of curiosity, can those of you in the UK book using American on-line travel agents or, since you don't live in the U.S., are you not eligible for U.S. prices? I occasionally see notices that for a particular price, one must be a U.S. resident, but I always assumed they were the exception, not the rule.

 

As a side question, could I, as a U.S. resident, use some of the U.K. travel agents for booking land tours in Europe. It seems to me they are less expensive than American agencies doing European tours.

I analyze all options and book accordingly. For some reason Med cruises are sometimes cheaper when booked in the UK BUT you are *{#|>{_?! if the price goes down due to booking restrictions. And don't ever think you can change the cruise for a different date/itinerary. You will lose your deposit.

 

Therefore the UK travel industry loses out to the US for my GBP all for the sake of inconsistent booking T's and C's. Guilty? No, just an informed consumer.

We booked a med cruise via our US travel agent for my UK resident inlaws. But I guess since we were paying they counted our US address for residency.

You USUALLY don't need a US address to book in the US from the UK.

 

If they do ask for one, check out MyUS.com. It's a completely legitimate US address. I order stuff from the US, like from Ralph Lauren at a fraction of the price that is available in the U.K. and it is redirected to my home address in the U.K. Many American websites are not available to order from outside of the US. MyUS receives the order and redirects it to you. I have never had a single problem in the five years I have been using them.

Price of cruise I was watching increased yesterday from £1450 to £2800!!!! Yup. [emoji817] % increase to cover the 'free' drinks package. That is a solo person price.

They are having a laugh.

Today it has gone "down" to £2127.

So they have just adjusted because they realize solo passengers are not going to drink like two people... maybe they will now advertise a savings on solo bookings because of that reason?

My last 2 cruises have been with a US Travel agent indeed last night with a price change I saved over $800 so I will be staying with them from now on ;)

We've had drink packages on every cruise we've taken and I've always come away feeling they weren't worth it. But it's a question of convenience so we keep doing it.

 

However in March, 2019, we have a port intensive Eastern Caribbean out of San Juan - only 1 sea day out of 8. So we plan to not get a drink package on that one. We figure we'll be sitting in a beach chair with a bucket 'o suds most days so a couple of drink in the casino and wine at dinner wouldn't make a package cost effective.
