CA_Cruzing Posted September 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2017 https://worldcam.eu/webcams/north-america/turks-and-caicos-islands/5051 let's hope the eye passes far from Grand Turk. 86 mph winds is bad but not like St. Martin experienced. Brad1972 Posted September 8, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2017 Now it's showing 104 mph winds. And it's already passed through. The very edge of the eye brushed grand Turk.
Davey Wavey Posted September 8, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2017 Is that webcam current? It looks all cleaned up like nothing happened at the cruise center on Grand Turk.
cruisekitty22 Posted September 8, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2017 That's a still picture of Grand Turk Cruise port. Its been the same picture for days. I doubt the camera will be working anytime soon. I check it everyday too.
evandbob Posted September 8, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 8, 2017 Provo sustained major damage, per a weather channel report. I haven't heard any reports from GT, but I'll assume that all the Turks & Caicos isles, which barely rise out of the ocean, were heavily damaged by both heavy winds and storm surge. CA_Cruzing Posted September 8, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted September 8, 2017 Twitter reports show downed trees power lines and local flooding in Provo. Water is off due to some breaks in the clean water supplies. From the pics posted, Provo fared well, all things considered. Very few twitter updates from GT. CA_Cruzing Posted September 8, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted September 8, 2017 reports from Grand Turk: https://www.facebook.com/GrandTurkIrmaUpdates/?ref=br_rs "I just got off the phone with Amber Webster, who is the executive assistant to the CEO of Chukka. She was gracious enough to confirm and clarify information and has offered to call me back as more news arrives. Here is what I know: - Chris Myles did contact them this morning via sat phone - The damage was not as extensive at the port as they thought. No information on the pier itself. - Comms are down, but there have been no reports of loss of life. - The lighthouse is still standing but some doors were lost. - The horse farm was also lost, but the horses were all moved and there was no loss of horse life (of theirs anyway) Separately, I have heard from Charlotte Cullen who spoke to her family via satellite phone that Closehaul Road is flooded (which is to be expected). Jackie Thomas, Les Peters and Pat and Neil Saxton are known to be safe."
