Barsnikel Posted September 12, 2017 #27 Share Posted September 12, 2017 Got a message from the Atton hotel, in Brickell area of Miami. The hotel is a few blocks off the bay. They are closed today but will open tomorrow with full service.
BNBR Posted September 13, 2017 #28 Share Posted September 13, 2017 Thanks for the positive thoughts. Been a rough week but things are quickly normalizing. So many are still without power and internet/tv, I feel so fortunate we got ours back on within 36 hours. Having the businesses shut down for a few days was by far the worst part, we were using cell phone tethering and sitting in a closed restaurant just desperately trying to help keep things afloat. I think in general the damage has been minimal outside of utilities. TONS of debris, fallen trees, and just landscaping debris everywhere. Roads are pretty much clear, still some broken traffic lights and crazy drivers who fly right through them. But again, QUICKLY getting back to normal as of today. brunello22 Posted September 13, 2017 #30 Share Posted September 13, 2017 Thank you! We evacuated Lauderdale by the Sea on Thursday for north central FL. Irma was right at our front door, but luckily with less intensity, had we stayed home. We drove back on Monday. Our homes are fine, although we are still without power, lost some big trees, and are still scooping mango leaves, branches, and palm fronds out of the pool. LBTS is getting back to normal ... most bars and restaurants were open last night on the south side of Commercial Blvd (y)

Arzeena Posted September 15, 2017 #32 Share Posted September 15, 2017 Hope all our Floridain friends are coping well. Heard from my daughter in Orlando area that power is back. But her work place suffered huge damage. 200 employees out of a job till who knows when. They say maybe end of November or early December, if they decide to rebuild.
