lanita Posted September 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2017 i have read different things. I don't want to haul along nice dinner outfits if everyone else is wearing jeans. 😳 Anyone done this cruise recently? Lana
Rare RachelG Posted September 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2017 You don't have to bring formal wear, but do need something nicer than jeans for dinner. On our cruises on Explorer, I usually bring a couple of cocktail dresses for the "special" evenings (the captain's welcome, the veniciam society dinner, the farewell dinner. Then the rest of the nights, pants and fancy tops. My husband does not bring a suit, but does wear a long sleeved dress shirt and nice pants. The only night when jeans are really allowed is the last night of the cruise.
rojaan19 Posted September 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2017 I agree with Rachel, pants/skirts and a dressy top, and cocktail wear for the special nights. My husband wears a long sleeve dress shirt and pants, a tie and jacket on the special nights in cold climates. We love the Silver Explorer you will have a great time ! zigtraveller Posted September 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2017 As Rachel mentioned, a couple of nicer outfits for the Welcome dinner, Venitian's evening, and Farewell dinner are all that are needed. The other evenings in the Antarctic are quite relaxed and informal.

The expedition cruises are much more casual. I took a tux on our Agean sea cruise. For the expedition cruises no tie or jacket required. A long sleeve dress shirt with black khakis and leather boat shoes was fine. Or a few sharp Hawaiian shirts will do.
lanita Posted September 17, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted September 17, 2017 Thank you Cool Cruiser. Of course, I'm a woman, and don't own any cool Hawaiian shirts, but I get the drift. lana
