loving goldens Posted September 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2017 Hi there i just wondering if you can use your Perk of OBC to pay the gratuties ... I ask our travel agent and she said it is a grey area...... so i am not sure to pick pre paid gratuties or the OBC that will leave us extra cash in our On Board account.... Thk u in advance....:)
Rare cruisestitch Posted September 13, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2017 It is not a gray area on Celebrity. Perhaps your travel agent is thinking of another line. On Celebrity you absolutely can use the credit to pay gratuities. Sent from my iPad using Forums
ransrider Posted September 13, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 13, 2017 You can use OBC for anything charged to your seapass card. Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app
Rare chemmo Posted September 13, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2017 If you wish to give extra tips to your room attendant or butler you can also do that using OBC by filling in a form at guest relations. They prefer you to complete this 2 days before the end of the cruise so it can be processed.
wallie5446 Posted September 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 13, 2017 No grey area, the OBC is a blanket credit on your cabin account. The daily gratuity is a debit. You do not have to do anything nor give instructions to the front desk.
Spursgirl Posted September 13, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2017 Am very glad that loving goldens asked this question as I didn't realise this was possible. Thanks all
CruisingChick Posted September 13, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 13, 2017 Your OBC can be used for anything except taking money out in the casino and for a booking deposit while booking on board. Booking on board deposit has to be charged directly to a credit card.

riclop Posted September 14, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 14, 2017 Yes you can, your TA must be horrible if he did not know the answer.
Luvcrusn Posted September 14, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 14, 2017 Absolutely it can be used for gratuities. Depending on the length of our cruise and the accommodation type we choose either prepaid gratuities or the OBC whichever is greater. Several times we have seen the daily gratuity rates go up and have called our TA and changed from OBC to the prepaid gratuities. The only thing you can't use it for is booking a future cruise or gambling.

CruisingChick Posted September 14, 2017 #14 Share Posted September 14, 2017 Can you explain what you mean by taking money out in the casino? Can you play the slots with your OBC? You can no longer take your OBC out in cash from the Casino Cashier. You either get promo chips to play table games or credit on your seapass card for slot credit. Only your winnings can be cashed in.
Rare bjahil47 Posted September 14, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 14, 2017 You can use OBC for gratuities. We used it to give our butler extra tip. It gets added to his paycheck. For extra gratuities to waiters and others it is added to a pool and not given to specific person!

I see you can play with it but just not go to cashier and get cash to play.
cookiersmom Posted September 15, 2017 #18 Share Posted September 15, 2017 Choice between OBC and prepaid tips is easy. Just figure out the amount your tips are per day, based on your cabin type, and multiply by the nights. If that amount is more than $150 per person, then go with prepaid tips (i.e. longer cruise usually) if under $150 then go with the OBC of $150 per person
