Cruise for vacation Posted September 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2017 Hello, we are cruising on the Symphony next year out of Barcelona, Spain. I would like to spend a few days in Barcelona before boarding the ship. I am looking for hotel recommendations, not necessary close to pier. Thanks in advance

I would like to spend a few days in Barcelona before boarding the ship. I am looking for hotel recommendations, not necessary close to pier. Thanks in advance We like Hotel Jazz. Close to, but not right on Las Ramblas. Close to metro stations. Several restaurants within walking distance. Another place to check is the Spain forum: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=

Tatra603 Posted September 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2017 I stayed at the Hotel California earlier this year and loved it. Very close to Las Ramblas. Cheap, clean, no frills, friendly staff and a fully inclusive breakfast bar (which was fairly basic, but given the price, very impressive). Would happily stay there again. taglovestocruise Posted September 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2017 We have stayed at the Hotel 1898 several times, a bit pricey at $275.00 on weekends but well worth it to us. On Las Rambles but very quiet. happy cruising

Sunny AZ Girl Posted September 16, 2017 #14 Share Posted September 16, 2017 We loved our VRBO apartment last year! We got to live like the locals. It was a great experience. [emoji41] Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
yuvraj Posted September 16, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 16, 2017 Our preferred hotels are : Holiday Inn City 22 Travelodge Both in Poble Nou. It is near the metro, a local rambla for a good range of restaurants and a short walk from the beach. Doesn't feel as busy or touristy as other parts of the city. Both of our preferred hotels are comfortable to stay in and are reasonably priced.

kgm0612 Posted September 16, 2017 #17 Share Posted September 16, 2017 We stayed at Tryp Apolo in Barcelona, a Wyndham property. Great location and a short walking distance from tourist locations. We booked by phone through Wyndham directly. Staff was very friendly and rooms were comfortable. Karen

topnole Posted September 16, 2017 #22 Share Posted September 16, 2017 Oh and do watch your back/stuff carefully. A prior post said they never felt at risk but the risk is there and pick pockets are ever present. If you stay a few days you will see someone or something fishy. Just mind your stuff and don't fall for anything tricky and you'll be fine. In other words, be vigilant and don't make the mistake of thinking the warnings are overblown. The city is amazing so enjoy whatever time you have there.
Brigbound Posted September 16, 2017 #23 Share Posted September 16, 2017 Topnole- right on both counts! Hotel Indigo is lovely. La Rambla is a great attraction but an easy place to become distracted. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
FOXTROT Posted September 16, 2017 #24 Share Posted September 16, 2017 This fall we stayed at H10 Cubik. It was 2 blocks from Las Ramblas. Had a very nice roof top lounge where we could unwind in the evening.
