Heads Up: Mighty Cruise Ships - MSC Divina on Smithsonian Channel Sunday 10/8

I've been recording/watching the Mighty Cruise Ships series on the Smithsonian Channel, and noticed in my upcoming DVR schedule that the 10/8 episode is MSC Divina. Not everyone gets the Smithsonian Channel, but if you do, set your DVR. The series isn't great, there's more drama than great info about the ship, but still entertaining.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I watched the episode and it was pretty good. The Captain is the same one who will be taking out Seaside. And the seafood restaurant he ate at in Cozumel looked pretty good - I'm thinking of going there for lunch when we're on Seaside in January. Maybe I can join the captain [emoji3].

Thank you. Went to the link and found out we are able to receive the channel so we too will be setting the DVR for an episode to watch. Thanks again.

Really? That is great! Wonder how long he will be on Seaside? We sail January 20, 2018.

Thanks for the "heads up" on the show. We watched it last night. Divina looks absolutely spectacular! If we can expect similar with Seaside we will be very pleased. This will be our first time on MSC, so we watched the show to get a feel for the line.

Hi. Im sailing Seaside in February. Will we have the current Divina captain? It will just make it little more special when I watch the show later.

Thanks.

Tough to say since I am not familiar with MSC. I know that Celebrity captains are on 3 months, off 3 months. Since Seaside sails in December, the original captain should still be on in February. From the show, it appeared that his wife and young son sail with him full time. I haven't heard of that before.

I found it interesting that he got off the ship in Cozumel to go to lunch (with his top assistant, it seemed). I always thought the captain stayed on the ship 24/7, but perhaps not.

Here is the captain's page on the MSC site as well as his Twitter and Instagram. He used to be on Carnival. You'll see references to Seaside on the latter 2.

Missed the show. Will it be posted on You Tube?

Hope it will be.

We were on it Feb 2017, back on her Nov 2017 and Feb 2018.Great ship!

I think they're repeating it a few times this week. Or check your On Demand system.

The schedule is here -- https://www.smithsonianchannel.com/shows/mighty-cruise-ships/msc-divina/1003687/3451010

Definitely not on YouTube since they sell episodes on Amazon and other platforms.
