Paying off a cruise with using Barclay Carnival points??

I currently have 25,000 points on my Barclay card. This morning I put a deposit down on a new cruise using some gift cards I had.

I'd like to use the 25,000 points towards payment on this cruise but not sure how to do this. Can anyone help me understand the best way to use these 25,000 points towards paying for this cruise?

Thanks! ~1Cruisingal

Take a look at the rewards tab. then the statement credit link, AFTER you charge the payment. IF you don't have enough point to pay off the entire amount, you have 6 months to redeem it, and earn the difference in the meantime.

You can make a payment of $250, charged to your card. Then when your statement is published, go to Rewards and redeem your points to pay off that payment to Carnival. If you want to wait and see if you have more points later, you can either wait and make a larger payment to Carnival, then follow the process above.

As I recall the process, you can only make one redemption against a particular transaction, so don't charge the full balance and then pay off as much as you can now, planning to pay off more later when you get more points. Split it into trasactions you can handle now.

I know my card gives me some points back whe I redeem. If you have this same version, you will have some more points to play with after your first rewards redemption.

I know if you save up 100k points and use it as a statement credit on a $1,500+ Carnival purchase, you get $1,500 instead if $1,000.

Others on here have said if you take a statement credit on a charge over $1,500, you get the 1.5 redemption rate no matter how many points you redeem. If that's true...if you have a charge of $1,500+ Your statement credit on 25,000 points would be $375 instead of $250.
