pugsammy Posted October 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2017 My grandson is almost 6 and would much rather be with the 6-8 year age group based on what the activities are, but because he's 5, can we ask for him to be with the 6 year olds? Pitzel Posted October 16, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2017 You can always ask, but generally they are pretty strict about age groups (especially with younger kids joining older age groups).
Mistizoom Posted October 16, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2017 They are strict on ages but sometimes do combine age groups if there are not many kids on a sailing.
gingersvp Posted October 16, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2017 They were very strict on our sailing and it had to do with insurance issues. You can ask but I would expect a no.

If they make one exception they would need to make it for almost everyone. It is like asking if you can vote even though you won't be 18 until the day after the election or can you ask the bar tender to give you a drink today cause your 21st BD is tomorrow and you will be busy or asking them to make an exception and allow your child to start school even if she is not quite meeting the age requirement. I have heard if the ship isn't terribly full they make an exception but don't expect this to happen.

tcrandal Posted October 17, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 17, 2017 From our first hand experience they WILL NOT make any exceptions, even if the child turns the age required DURING the cruise. It's fine to ask, just don't expect it. There were some parents we've seen throw a fit when told this because their children were split up, but we've come to expect that behavior nowadays! PelicanBill Posted October 17, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 17, 2017 Does anyone know what the age groups are. My grand daughter is 11 and won't go if she is with the very young kids.. This was a tough age for us too. Our daughter did not want to be with little kids either. Sometimes you get lucky and there is someone focused on the pre-teens who makes it fun for them.
