gigi65 Posted October 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2017 This will be our first time in Nassau- can someone share approx. how far the straw market is from the port. Is it within walking distance? Are the side walks relatively smooth? My father is in a scooter . Thanks in advance
micheecruise Posted October 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2017 I do know that the straw market is within walking distance, not sure about the sidewalk situation.
siestakeys04 Posted October 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 24, 2017 Yes the straw marker is within walking distance I am not sure how many blocks though. The sidewalks what I remember are regular sidewalks but the side streets it seems some were like brick/cobblestone. You can probably google it and see pictures. JawjaFatBoy Posted October 25, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2017 Straw market is easy walking distance and while the sidewalks are pretty decent, they tend to be narrow. Take your time and shouldn't be any issues. You might have a little easier journey if you go over a block to Bay St. I seem to remember the sidewalks there being wider. BNBR Posted October 25, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 25, 2017 Haven't been to the straw market in a long time, but if it's as I recall, it's the last place I'd try and get around in a scooter. Maybe it's more accessible now?
amrgirl95 Posted November 22, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 22, 2017 I'm not sure if you're still looking for answers, but I was in Nassau with my mom and a family friend in May 2016. My mom had broken her foot and was using crutches and a knee scooter this cruise. We were able to walk all the way down to Senor Frogs (passing the straw market) with my mom on crutches, but she was able to move around pretty well in general. We took a taxi back to the port, since the walk was a bit too long and tiring for her, but I'm pretty sure the sidewalk were fairly even.
Rare mskaufman Posted November 22, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 22, 2017 It is an easy walk from the ship and the sidewalks are OK. Not much room for a scooter once you get there.
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 25, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 25, 2017 As others have said it is relatively close to where you will be docked and it is a very popular place to visit. Keith
