Breakaway Ocean Blue Restaurant

Has anyone dined in Ocean Blue on the Breakaway. We have the Specialty Dining Plan and were considering paying the $17.99 upcharge to try it. Is it worth it?

We did last year, and glad we did. It was the best meal of four specialties for us.

We just got off the Breakaway this morning. We ate two times at Ocean Blue and both times it was excellent.

But food is so subjective, you may love it just like others. I actually love some of the dishes at LaCucina and other posters find that restaurant awful.

 

My suggestion is to give it a try and enjoy 😎

I totally agree about La Cucina. All I heard was how bad it was. I ate there on Breakaway. It was one of the best meals I've had in my life.

After having eaten at La Cucina many times you also learn what is good and what's not. You apparently chose well. The one thing I would order there is the Bistecca Fiorentina. If you ever tried the Shrimp Fra Diavolo there, you might have noticed there are a few whole shrimp, and about a handful of cut up shrimp. Although it is tasty, it is not in my opinion a $24 dish, especially since food is included in ones fare.

It also isn't spicy which makes it not exactly "diavolo". :mad:

We really looked forward to going to Ocean Blue a few years ago. We were very disappointed in the food. My wife's scallops had sand in them and my meal wasn't any better than Cagney's.

We sail the Breakaway often and always enjoy Ocean Blue. On our longer cruises we are usually are there twice. We just did a September Bermuda run and dined there on my husband's birthday. Both the food and staff were excellent and they really went the extra mile to make it festive.

Had a nice meal there on Getaway last month. As someone said above, if you want Surf & Turf, it is the only place to get it on the ship. Boo.

We dined there this summer and it was the best meal we had on the ship. We were very disappointed with the Italian restaurant. We are planning on going there again this summer. Enjoy, in my opinion definitely worth the up charge.

One of the best meals last year was at Ocean Blue. The Stone Crab Claws and Dover Sole were excellent.

I sailed on the Breakaway 4 years ago and dined at Ocean Blue. The most memorable part of my meal was the side dish of charred broccoli. Truly delicious and I've made it at home ever since.

I'm on the BA right now. Very glad I used one SDP for a meal at Ocean Blue. Much better than Cagney's and Le Bistro.
