tankerahoy Posted November 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2017 My husband and I have just booked the Carnival Splendor cruise that sails from LA to Hawaii and back. It is a 14 day cruise at the end of April/beginning of May with several sea days (we are happy about this!) and we are wondering if anyone else has sailed the Pacific. We have always cruised the Caribbean so the Pacific is an entirely new adventure for us. We have been in the Atlantic twice in March and it was very rough. This was ok for us since we do not have motion sickness issues, but were just curious if we would have similar seas. We are just looking for anyone who may have taken this or a similar cruise in the past and could give us an idea of what we might be in for. :o Thanks

Sauer-kraut Posted November 29, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2017 It won't be typhoon season, so you probably won't have much weather. The Pacific is not quite like the Atlantic and since you don't suffer mal de mer it will be a wonderful cruise. The weather will be wonderful in Hawaii. Beave8920 Posted November 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2017 I took this same cruise several years ago in April and the sea was absolutely perfect for the 5 days sailing over. In fact, we arrived 12 hours early and the Captain cruised the coast off Hawaii so we could see the lava flow at night......It was one of our best cruises! You never know about the weather, but that was our experience. Have fun! :D
riclop Posted November 29, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2017 Did it twice and to my surprise it was worst then the Caribbean, lots of wind and very chilly until the 3rd day.
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 29, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 29, 2017 I've done this several times. It likely will be choppy the first day or so out of California but as you make your way towards Hawaii it will get calmer and warmer. jordanaire Posted November 29, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 29, 2017 We sailed to Hawaii from San Diego and back in April of 2012. The first 2 days it was cold and VERY windy. It was the same during the last 2 days. The weather in between was perfect. Had a fabulous cruise! tankerahoy Posted November 29, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted November 29, 2017 Awesome! We were just curious - we have had great weather/seas in the Caribbean and had less than perfect - not much you can do about Mother Nature but wanted to be somewhat prepared. Thanks for the replies!
