mikaula Posted December 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2017 Trying to decide if I just want to spring for a balcony instead of an inside cabin. The price will be double what we are paying now. Our cruise ends in Seward & we were originally going to stay in Seward a few days & take some additional tours but it’s really expensive! I know...everything in Alaska is but man!, I’ve been to Alaska a couple times & never did more than a round trip cruise from Seattle & once from Vancouver. We also already have a float plane tour of Misty Fyords planned.
parentsof5 Posted December 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2017 If I had to choose, I would choose land.
KirkWN737 Posted December 6, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 6, 2017 I would also choose the land portion. You can always go outside and see whet's going on. Plus you've already done it twice!
katrina915 Posted December 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 6, 2017 I would go with the land. Balcony is nice but I am on deck for any glacier viewing. Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app
easyboy Posted December 6, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 6, 2017 Ditto. More value on land tour Sent from my iPhone using Forums
JT1962 Posted December 7, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Choose the land and watch for price drops and you might be able to upgrade if the prices drops. We booked an inside and were able to upgrade to a balcony for only about $ 100 more pp about 2 months before the cruise. sailingwithfriends Posted December 7, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 7, 2017 We made the decision to add on the land portion with the savings for booking an inside cabin. We sailed to AK in 2015 and could not wait to go back. We are actually spending less money by adding on a 5 day cruise tour than would would have if we had a balcony. On our last cruise, we spent almost all of our time on the ship up on an upper deck. We enjoyed the 360 degree views.

Rare Keith1010 Posted December 7, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Do the land. IMHO the best views fro the ship will be from an open deck not from ones room so I would take the inside and use the money for more time on land and more tours. cruiseguy1016 Posted December 7, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Another vote for the land portion. The best views from the ship will be on one of the open decks, not from a balcony.
mikaula Posted December 7, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted December 7, 2017 That’s why I originally booked a Northbound cruise:) no wife got to get planning the land. Thanks everyone for confirming my original thought!
