Spa products hard upsell on Princess ships

My co-worker's daughter is a massage therapist and she had looked into the possibility of working on a cruise ship. If she understood it correctly, her salary would be very little, but where she would make her most money would be on selling products, or upselling to pricier treatments. She decided not to take the job.

It seems to me that most of her wages would be tips. I've only had a few treatments on cruises and never felt a hard sell. I must be one of those people can tell won't fall for it.

I too have been turned off from the spa due to the hard sell.what I resented was the “hard sell” became a “soft sell” during my spa hour! Never getting subjected to that again!

My aunt came back from a massage in tears! They made her feel like she was old and ugly if she didn't buy their products. I've never been to the spa---don't have any interest now!

It would have been completely reasonable for her to have explained this to the spa manager and receive another massage at no additional cost.
