Kiwi Kruzer Posted December 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2017 The road from Picton to Kaikoura reopened today after a mammoth effort .Just goes to show what can be done when not restricted by planning....after all ....nature never got a resource consent for the quake which sent millions of tons of rock covering the road and the tunnels, The new road has been built out into the sea and even the seals that live along the coast have done their bit to help. from a previous thread............ David, just a slight detour off the topic - how are they going with restoring the road and rail links through Kaikoura that were destroyed in the earthquake? I haven't heard much about it recently. The video with this clip is a good watch ..... Seals ushered to safety by specialist crews in Kaikoura http://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2017/09/seals-ushered-to-safety-by-specialist-crews-in-kaikoura.html

Sandielle Posted December 16, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2017 That's wonderful news, David. It was such devastating destruction. I have a FB friend who lives in Christchurch - she posted a photo yesterday. I hope you are keeping well. :)
